His double play partner is hitting .250 with 4 more RBI and got a 10yr/100’smil contract. Perhaps that has something to do with it…….
Good observation…
Sorry Winn has 4 more RBI….and don’t listen to me…..I’m a dumb[ash] no one agrees with never has a point
Winn has about 30 more PA with men on base, and 20 more with RISP.

Both Winn and JJ are better in these scenarios compared to bases empty, but JJ is far better than Winn (around .700 ops vs .825 ops)
The run across the plate is the run across the plate. This [nonsense] explanation all the time about more opportunities ALWAYS leaves out the other option. FAILURE
Yeah, Winn failed at a higher rate.
Do you know JJ would’ve succeeded in those 20 more PA with RISP?
What the hell is your point? Are you saying the Cardinals should offer Winn the same contract they gave Wetherholt?
Are you saying Winn is better and should get more money and years?
Please explain.
The point is, your facts are devastating to his case and completely dispel his illogical argument.
The point is that if you don’t think a 23yrold who had a 5.1WAR season in ‘24 and has won a GG and then seeing JJ get a 100+ mil deal in half a season and he isn’t thinking about that then you must be really clueless. These kids are human….not robots.
“What's the Cardinals record since they extended JJ?

Did that mentally destroy other players in that locker room? #stlcards

Never thought about it until Lance Lynn said it”

Bomber/Ronnie perhaps Lance Lynn can help explain this complicated issue…..
That is an absolutely absurd and idiotic argument. If other players on the team have slacked off because they are mad Wetherholt got an extension then they don't belong in the majors anyway. If something like a teammate getting a contract significantly degrades their drive to perform, they have no chance at succeeding at the major league level. Which of course is absolutely absurd because almost all of them have an internal drive and competitiveness far above the average person. It's one of the main reasons they are all professionals at the highest level. They aren't losing because they're all mad because he got a contract. They're losing because they aren't a very good team and relied heavily on luck to this point.

Certainly Winn can be upset in the back of his mind, he didn't get a similar offer. However, he knows as much as anyone, he's declined every year since. However, if his comment was him lashing out because Wetherholt got a big contract and he didn't, then he's a fool.

Additionally, all of the players are much more in line with the union's stance of get more money to the players and it'splayers against owners.. So, they would all be happy about his extension. One, because one of them got a nice contract, two because it increases the comps for the rest of the players.
I’m waiting on the brewers and pirates to collapse after they signed players with no major league time to extensions lol the brewers signed two of them to extensions so according to Goldfan they will collapse completely

Im not happy...who would be? His reacton seems appropriate. He's not an announcer always making excuses for this underachieving team.

Whitey traded a very talented SS for a much less talent, because the multi talented SS was all about himself. Maybe, just maybe...........

Winn was talking about being disappointed the org is selling.

How is that about himself?

I would respect the player a lot less if they weren't concerned about winning.

These are ultra competitive athletes who are used to doing everything possible to win.

Right. I’m wondering how in the world people don’t look at his comments as admirable and team focused.

I think that comment was in the context other posters claiming Winn said it because he was mad Wetherholt got a $100m contract and he didn't.

If Winn plays and produces, he'll get a nice rich contract when it's time.

Forum full of people who whine constantly about how bad the team is and how management doesn’t want to win. A player talks about how he doesn’t like losing and he gets [shirt] for it from those same fans? Amazing.

NO WAY

I'd never extend him, just let him go thru ARB's and one of the plethora of SS's they've drafted will be ready to replace him by the time he gets thru ARB 3.
Your worth often depends on how hard other, better and cheaper players are breathing down your neck.
The Cardinals have drafted a handful of SS's, that breath is going to be getting hot down Winn's neck.

I'd trade him sometime during the next two years for a low level #2/solid #3 starting pitcher w/years of control.
In two years his trade value will not return a #2.
I said "sometime during the next two years" Juan, that could mean this weekend, the off season, next spring, ect.....!

(Won't happen but I'd sure be exploring it if I was C. Bloom)
What i am getting at is if you are doing it, why wait? A piddly (donkey) deadline of only moving May and Stanek is a waste.
I agree

I think we also are likely to see JoJo, possibly even Noot and/or RO'B dealt too.
