Blue's next Captain

Post by stanw »

I was wondering if the Blues are going to name a captain during training camp or go the year with three A's. If they do name one with the team pick him or let the players vote ?
Who do you think will be the next Captain ?

Parayko - huge part of the Blues cup win and he should end up as the all time most games played for the franchise.

While I don’t necessarily agree, I think it will be Thomas. He’s a great player, but his mood swings, staring at the sky (bleep) and quiet nature seem counter to the qualities of a strong captain.

I’m really not sure who else they would put in that role though based on the current roster. I’m struggling to see who would be the player that will drag the team into the battle when they get down??

It won’t be Parayko. If they name one, it will be Thomas.

When Schenn was traded 100% I thought it would be Neighbors. The last 20 or so games Thomas looked healthy and and like a different player than the first 60.

It will be one of those two, if they name a captain.

No Parayko, Broberg or Buchnevich

Thomas is thr best player, has leadership experience, amd clearly wants the job.

If its not him, they should just trade him for the best futures assets and start a new rebuild.

I’ll throw out a little tidbit…….the night before the draft, the Blues had a little “event” at Bellerive Country Club. It was management, Monty, and most if not all all of the scouts. The only player that I know was there was Robert Thomas. This came from a girl that worked the event so I can’t be sure that there wasn’t another player or two there, but she knows what Parayko looks like and she didn’t see him. Maybe Thomas was the only member of the core that was in town, or maybe the Blues were including him because he’s now looked at as part of the leadership of the team.

Or maybe it means nothing!

This, but I could also see Fowler swapped with Holloway.

Maybe, maybe not... but it is interesting for sure. Has he joined the CC? And as a member, MacInnis said why don't you join us? I don't know if any other Blues players or Coach or management belong?

Which is the most difficult?

A - The Blues naming a Captain
B - A St Louis kid picking a number for a Jersey
C - Killing crabgrass in your neighbor's lawn

The answer is B.

This is despite that fact the few BluesTalkers care about the fan experience for kids.

Why is everybody down on Parayko? Because he doesn't have the fire? Neither does Thomas...

1. Because I don’t see him being with the Blues long term. They tried to trade him once already.

2. Because Thomas has come out and said he wants to be the captain.
