LOL. Not saying you're wrong but there was a lot of chatter about how that French-speaking environment would make him (and Tex) more comfortable.Tabasco Flowers wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 13:26 pm Bolduc would be a much better player anywhere else than Montreal. A French-Canadian kid there faces undue pressure.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
This sort of burnishes the B4M trade. At year 1.
I suppose, then, the fact that Bolduc is unsigned shouldn't yet be made too much of ? Since there could be sheets, etc., already in the air....
You have to think he (& they at MTL) must view him at this point as expendable/marginal. Which is a big switch over the last year.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
Don’t think I would trade Suter for Bolduc straight up. Maybe but only because Bolduc is younger and might improve still. But Suter was clearly the better of the two overall last season, is much better defensively and can play center (and does it well). Sure as heck wouldn’t trade both Suter and Berggren for him.
I’d say Bolduc is likely still unsigned because he’s asking for quite a bit more than he’s worth. He obviously sees what some of the other RFAs are getting in the increased cap environment and he wants a piece of that. Problem is, he’s been a 30 pt player so far in his career and he’s pretty one dimensional.
He’s offer sheet eligible but either other teams aren’t exactly clamoring to throw a lot of money at him or he’s being super loyal to MTL for whatever reason. He wasn’t eligible to file for arbitration so my guess is he’s just hoping either that Canadiens or some other team eventually offers him more than what the offers have been so far.
I think he’s pretty overrated though. He’s a relatively empty calorie left shot winger. The league is full of those types, as is the minors. He just doesn’t have the leverage I bet he’s thinking/hoping he does.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
There is a pretty simple answer to this -
Bolduc and his agent think he's worth X. The Canadians and their GM feel that he isn't.
He's received a qualifying offer. He hasn't been offer sheeted so every other team in the N don't feel he is worth above and beyond the QO he received from MTL.
I foresee a bridge deal.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
Bolduc would not sign an offer sheet for that little as he has shown he can be worth more. Just because he isn't signed doesn't mean nobody is interested, nor does it mean Montreal doesn't still want him. It just means he and Montreal haven't come to an agreement yet, and he hasn't gotten an offer sheet he'd be willing to sign. It's July. Training camps don't start until September. There is still plenty of time.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 14:22 pm I think if Bolduc had some interest around the league, someone would have offer sheeted him. 1.5m or less = no compensation. That means 31 teams have had a chance to take him and he's not being picked up. GRANTED, that's assuming he would sign to get out of montreal. Maybe there is a deal in the works and he's just turning down sheets. That's a possibility. I can't see him being more than a 2.5m player at the moment tho.
I was a big Bolduc fan. But that ship has sailed it seems. I honestly think the Blues had big plans for him too.
Also should be noted, an offer sheet that doesn't require compensation doesn't mean Montreal can't still match and keep the player. If he came back to Kent Hughes and said "I signed an offer sheet for 1M with X team" then Hughes would laugh and match immediately.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
No it doesn't mean that. His QO was $875K. You really think nobody would offer him a 1M contract? Teams would love that, and Montreal would, too. But he would not sign that, because he can and will get more.bud white wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 16:31 pm There is a pretty simple answer to this -

Bolduc most likely wants to stay and isn't interested in going anywhere else. He's a local kid. Montreal likely wants to keep him. They just haven't agreed on a deal that works for both sides yet.

Snuggy he's really not a good 4th line guy.Snuggyfresh wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 12:04 pm Here is a thought would you trade suter and bergren and pic for buldoc.
Just curious he doesnt seem to fit mtl unless its 4th line. Especially with hage probably making it out of camp.
Just a thought

Fellow posters, thanks for being smart hockey fans and having Suters back. He's a good player and his value is unappreciated. I wouldn't mind having Bolduc back, but only if Montreal "throws" him away.

The fans up there basically still like him and think he has the potential to be a top 6.hockey jedi wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 17:36 pm Fellow posters, thanks for being smart hockey fans and having Suters back. They see flashes of skill and good play but biggest gripe they have seems to be his inconsistent play/effort.

This team has too many 3rd and 4th line wingers.
Nikishin is the trade I want them to go after so he and Broberg will lead the D the next five years.

Yes to this as well. We make moves to strengthen our Center depth so be patient to see how it shakes out before taking from it.hockey jedi wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 17:36 pm Fellow posters, thanks for being smart hockey fans and having Suters back. And with our moves this Summer along with another year of prospects growing/developing, having Bolduc back is not as urgent.
