I hope they at least ask Washington who they want besides Winn for Abrams. Gotta at least kick that tire.

What i am getting at is if you are doing it, why wait? A piddly (donkey) deadline of only moving May and Stanek is a waste.rockondlouie wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 13:44 pmI said "sometime during the next two years" Juan, that could mean this weekend, the off season, next spring, ect.....!JuanAgosto wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 13:37 pmIn two years his trade value will not return a #2.rockondlouie wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 13:22 pmThe Cardinals have drafted a handful of SS's, that breath is going to be getting hot down Winn's neck.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 13:20 pmYour worth often depends on how hard other, better and cheaper players are breathing down your neck.rockondlouie wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:31 am Likely feels he should be getting a $100M L-T extension like JJW too.![]()
NO WAY
I'd never extend him, just let him go thru ARB's and one of the plethora of SS's they've drafted will be ready to replace him by the time he gets thru ARB 3.![]()
I'd trade him sometime during the next two years for a low level #2/solid #3 starting pitcher w/years of control.
(Won't happen but I'd sure be exploring it if I was C. Bloom)

No. No need to sign Winn. He's not going anywhere and they drafted a kid out of highschool who could be ready when Winn becomes a FA.OldRed wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:15 amThe Cardinals really need to sign him and Walker. If a better SS ever came along, I'm sure Winn could move to CF with his speed and throwing arm.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:12 am Lose Winn; you lose games. He will be extended.
I need Winn to not get worse on Offense every year, and return to his last years GG defense. I don't see either this year

Cool story! His partner also has done this in his first year in MLB.Goldfan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:05 amHis double play partner is hitting .250 with 4 more RBI and got a 10yr/100’smil contract. Perhaps that has something to do with it…….TopofthePerch wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:01 amWhy aren't players allowed to be frustrated when fans are? He is just a human being like everyone else. At 244 that is the league average and with his elite defense at short stop he is worthy of being a starter. Not everyone is an all star. I would also say that not a lot of players are studs on offense and defense.
Meanwhile Winn, in his 3rd full season, is well on his way to his worst offensive year yet.

Yes cool the Cardinals just spent the #11 pick on a CF but if Winn keeps hitting bad enough for another SS to take his place we can just move his pathetic offense to CF.OldRed wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:15 amThe Cardinals really need to sign him and Walker. Both Winn and JJ are better in these scenarios compared to bases empty, but JJ is far better than Winn (around .700 ops vs .825 ops)
Are you saying Winn is better and should get more money and years?
Please explain.

His argument is either the cardinals should Sign everyone to an extension because if they dont the other players will be upset they didnt get extensions or the cardinals shoudnt sign Any players to extensions because it might upset the other players if they do so either way his argument is dumbBomber1 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 17:01 pmWhat the hell is your point? The point is that if you don’t think a 23yrold who had a 5.1WAR season in ‘24 and has won a GG and then seeing JJ get a 100+ mil deal in half a season and he isn’t thinking about that then you must be really clueless. Did lance lynn explain why the cubs haven’t collapsed since they signed PCA to an extension or the pirates collapse since they signed griffin to an extension before he even made it to the majors? I’m still waiting on the brewers to collapse after they signed cooper Pratt? Or after the brewers signed Lara? Neither of them had a day in the big leagues when they signed so I guess only the cardinals are mentally destroyed by signing extensions and they should never sign anyone to an extension ever again let them all leave as free agents lol its the dumbest argument anyone has made ever

Re: Is Winn not happy?
That is an absolutely absurd and idiotic argument. If other players on the team have slacked off because they are mad Wetherholt got an extension then they don't belong in the majors anyway. If something like a teammate getting a contract significantly degrades their drive to perform, they have no chance at succeeding at the major league level. Which of course is absolutely absurd because almost all of them have an internal drive and competitiveness far above the average person. It's one of the main reasons they are all professionals at the highest level. They aren't losing because they're all mad because he got a contract. They're losing because they aren't a very good team and relied heavily on luck to this point.Goldfan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 18:53 pm“What's the Cardinals record since they extended JJ?Goldfan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 18:44 pmThe point is that if you don’t think a 23yrold who had a 5.1WAR season in ‘24 and has won a GG and then seeing JJ get a 100+ mil deal in half a season and he isn’t thinking about that then you must be really clueless. Never thought about it until Lance Lynn said it”
Bomber/Ronnie perhaps Lance Lynn can help explain this complicated issue…..
Certainly Winn can be upset in the back of his mind, he didn't get a similar offer. However, he knows as much as anyone, he's declined every year since. However, if his comment was him lashing out because Wetherholt got a big contract and he didn't, then he's a fool.
Additionally, all of the players are much more in line with the union's stance of get more money to the players and it'splayers against owners.. So, they would all be happy about his extension. One, because one of them got a nice contract, two because it increases the comps for the rest of the players.
