I don’t understand why it’s so bad or crazy. Heck we don’t even know how much of a season there will be in 2027. And it’s likely this offseason will be very hectic before the lockout.
This team is farther back from the Brewers right now than they were a year ago in the standings. And they still have a great system. To compete with them is going to take time. 2028 may even be overly optimistic.
Can someone explain why BDW can no longer spend $$. They greatest years in modern Cards history they only key players from org were
Pujols
Molina
And I guess Waino(Atlanta origin)
Emonds
Rolen
Carpenter
Walker
Izzy
Holliday
Beltran
Berkman
Woody
Lohse
Suppan
Renteria
Vina
Womack
Freese
Were ALL FA or Traded for $$ vets
The Ricketts lowered payroll during their rebuild
BDW went from 180>>>>100….its lowered. My question is WHY can’t he spend now? This team was 1st in WC…….therefore they were winning. It’s a young team now…..with more youngsters coming soon as ya’ll constantly tell me……they should only be better…..with a couple $$ players they could be very good……so why not spend some $$??
Because:
(1) I'm sure they were aware that this wasn't a 10-games-over-.500 roster and that a regression (like the one that has happened) was coming
and
(2) They aren't spending to try to squeak into the playoffs. Continue giving PT to the young players and evaluate what you have in them.

Teams usually don’t spend money during the season to acquire talent.

What was all that DRY POWDER for???
EC, if a team trades for a player with any sort of contract……they are on the hook for that contract……
Oh so they all agree they share responsibility in how the post trade line looks you kind of left that part out lol I’m not surprised you left that part out it kind of kills your argument
I only have one poster blocked. Guess who it is.
How many guesses do I get???
I give you a hint-It wasn't Shady or Mel or Tranie.

Got it!!! LOL
BTW...I’m about to get called out and vilified again for agreeing with another poster.
Wish me luck!
Maybe if Mase didn't suck all year, we wouldn't be in this position.
He's not wrong though. The plan from day one was to lose. That the team achieved higher achievements is almost shocking. They gutted this team and the plan is to keep gutting it. It would not surprise me at all to see them trade Winn or Walker.
The plan was never to lose you’re making that up
Getting rid of your best players isn't planning to fail? You know it was from the beginning. You won't admit it but you know it was.

Do y’all know any pro athletes? They compete every day. Period. Full stop.
LOL...How many times have you all expounded on a player not running out a ground ball or lacking hustle. You my friend don't live in reality.
I think they could be still dumping salaries and not "rebuilding". The idea of a balanced roster with rookies, veterans, and in betweens is well established. Where are our veterans?
While my experience with "teams" is not of professional level sports, mine took place in music. While you can always find a better player, arranger, etc. to alter something that is working is considered amateurish and naive. These are people, not trading chips!

The team would have reassessed if they had continued to play well they would have been soft buyers not sellers but the team completely choking makes it easy to sell. Dewitt would have never let bloom sell if the cardinals were actually continuing to show they were a threat to make the playoffs Dewitt would have smelled the money and said nope And plans change at the deadline you should know that in 2023 and last season mo wasn’t planning to sell at the deadline the teams terrible play forced it the plan would have changed at this deadline had the cardinals not collapsed

Bull….Bloom was talking in July about not deviating from his Master Plan. They were never buyers

He wasnt going to derail it by trading prospects like baez and doyle and rodriguez for a shot at winning a wild card they werent going to derail long term success for that. Yall are just making up everything else. And i find it hilarious that in the off season you whined and cried about them signing may and stanek said they sucked and werent good and werent worth the money they got you posted your stupid little laughing emojis mocking bloom and his 12 million dollar man may after he had two bad starts laughing about how stupid it was to sign him you arent a fan of noots and now that they are going to trade them you are whining and crying they are going to trade them. Its just like when cards signed contreras and gray and you whined and complained that they suck and werent worth the money spent the two years they were here constantly posting about how much they suck and werent worth their contracts then as soon as they are traded you suddenly thought they were good players and worth their contracts. So basically your entire posting history shows if the cardinals sign them its a bad move and they suck and while they are with the cardinals they suck and arent worth the money they are being paid but if they are traded they are good and worth their money

I said not to trade WC and Gray…..with them we’re fighting for Division
If you noticed WC was moved from C…….proving my point not to sign him at C……instead I wanted more offense in OF…..but since they had WC then you go with it and realize with him and Gray added to this team they are contenders. And obviously they were worth MORE than what Bloom got for them as I said in offseason….with great push back from you.

So you agree if they play for the cardinals you think they suck aren’t worth the money and if they are traded they are good and should have kept them I remember your posts crucifying Contreras about being middle of the pack first baseman a waste of money and a cancer for the team because of the problems he causes then traded suddenly you’re on team Contreras lol

As I said, the plan was to fail from the get go. I wonder if we'll ever really get anything out of the deals other than the owners not have to pull DeWallet out.
