Bolduc unsigned
Here is a thought would you trade suter and bergren and pic for buldoc.
Just curious he doesnt seem to fit mtl unless its 4th line. Especially with hage probably making it out of camp.

Absolutely not. People around here criminally underestimate Suter’s importance.Snuggyfresh wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 12:04 pm Here is a thought would you trade suter and bergren and pic for buldoc.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
More than likely he'll get a bridge deal. While talented, he's inconsistent and often undisciplined to prove himself before the Habs commit to a long term deal.Snuggyfresh wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 12:04 pm Here is a thought would you trade suter and bergren and pic for buldoc.

If the buzz surrounding Montreal trying to acquire Marchenko is true then that would explain why Bolduc and Xhekaj are still unsigned. Adding another big contract would put them up to the cap.

I don't care for trading Suter, I don't think signing UFA for 2 years and trading them after year one is a good look.

I'd like Bolduc back here; but I agree moving Suter is a bad look.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
Right now Suter and Berggren are more serviceable, as a pair of players, one a veteran center. There is clearly more upside potential in Bolduc.
I saw all of his playoff games. There were moments where he, Dach, and Texier together took the fight to the opponent, and there were some spectacular screwups. I think it was in the Carolina series where in one shining moment Bolduc was behind the goal in his OFFENSIVE zone engaging a player physically while the Canes are busy scoring at the other end. Little stuff like that.
Is there some Barbashev in him? Time will tell.
There are a lot of players in the league and he's just one of them. If they brought him back I'd trust their judgement, but if they pass I'm fine with that, too.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
I’d take him back for a draft pick, nothing more. We have plenty of prospects getting, and I’m not sure Bolduc fits into the salary cap as we have to re-sign guys like Snuggerud, Hofer, and Mailloux.

Can't trade Suter for Bolduc, but I would absolutely be interested in bringing him back for a non-1st round pick and a depth player.
I do feel there is stuff with him in the locker room or behind the scenes though. He's inconsistent sure, but he has proven he has NHL level talent but he's already been traded and bounced all around the lineup in MTL.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
Bolduc would be a much better player anywhere else than Montreal. A French-Canadian kid there faces undue pressure.

As I've repeatedly said, it would make sense that most posters would want to get rid of Suter. He was one of our best players last year.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
Yes id take Bolduc back. But no need to give much for him because people don't seem to like him. Probably one of those negative people that don't like to be bullshitted.
He has a place and on the Blues. I still believe this guy could put up 40+ given a role that utilizes his game.
But again he seems like he may take things personal and then takes that to the ice.
With a good center. Maybe McTab. He'd find his way and become a good hard working second liner that can snipe.
Also don't think he'd command more then one of our many fourth liners(toro) and possibly a third slash fourth

Re: Bolduc unsigned
I think if Bolduc had some interest around the league, someone would have offer sheeted him. 1.5m or less = no compensation. That means 31 teams have had a chance to take him and he's not being picked up. GRANTED, that's assuming he would sign to get out of montreal. Maybe there is a deal in the works and he's just turning down sheets. That's a possibility. I can't see him being more than a 2.5m player at the moment tho.
I was a big Bolduc fan. But that ship has sailed it seems. I honestly think the Blues had big plans for him too.

Re: Bolduc unsigned
That does not mean that at all lol, Every team in the league would give him 1.5 million. He's not going to sign that and if he did its an favor to Montreal.callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 14:22 pm I think if Bolduc had some interest around the league, someone would have offer sheeted him. 1.5m or less = no compensation. Lots of good players not doing offer sheets, offer sheets are rare because its a very narrow path with lots of moving parts. That is why they are and will continue to be relatively rare.
