It absolutely will be 3-4 years. This year, next year, and we are led to believe they will "look to begin competing " in 2028. No guarantee they are competing in 28. EVERY player in MLB knows their team is likely looking to make moves this time of the year and aren't pouting about it.![]()
This attitude that Cards players on this current are just fine going through the motions for 2-3 more years when the magical time comes when BDW might start spending money and Bloom Farm might start fielding Allstars on the MLB team is ridiculous. What does that plan do for the players currently on the field who were keeping the club in contention? NOTHING

Sorry maybe I am taking stupid pills by the handful but a lot of people were mad when they played in the mid market and the future went out the window. So you really think that rebuilding and player development doesn't work. If you don't spend towards the top what is the other option ? I would argue that developing solid prospects at all levels and not trading away the best players when they are do a big raise would be the best way to start building. Every small market team you mentioned rebuilds by trading their stars. You can't compare them to any of those small market teams yet. This is the first year. This is how every rebuild that has ever been done works. The Mets, Phillies,Red Sox, Giants and Astros have all went through a similar process at some point. This is how every rebuild that has ever been done works. It will take timeAlex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 09:55 amExcellent post.kyace wrote: ↑28 Jul 2026 19:36 pm This is who the Cardinals are. Re: Team negatively affected by Bloom selling not supporting
Remember when you and a lot of others were posting fans needed to stop coming to support the team to send a message to Dewitt and later when Dewitt was asked about some fans calling for that Dewitt scoffed and said their payroll is tied directly to revenue from attendance and ticket sales. And then when attendance started falling you and others were super happy because it sent a message to the Dewitt’s and now payroll is dropping. Yea congratulations you got what you wanted so why would you whine and cry about getting what you wanted?Goldfan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 10:02 amSo fans leaving had nothing to do with years of incompetence and losing but one day half woke up and realized they were a small market team and decided not spend $$ on Cards Baseball……Alex Reyes Cy Young wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 09:55 amExcellent post.kyace wrote: ↑28 Jul 2026 19:36 pm This is who the Cardinals are. I don’t understand why it’s so bad or crazy. Heck we don’t even know how much of a season there will be in 2027. And it’s likely this offseason will be very hectic before the lockout.
This team is farther back from the Brewers right now than they were a year ago in the standings. And they still have a great system. To compete with them is going to take time. 2028 may even be overly optimistic.

BDW went from 180>>>>100….its lowered. My question is WHY can’t he spend now? This team was 1st in WC…….therefore they were winning. It’s a young team now…..with more youngsters coming soon as ya’ll constantly tell me……they should only be better…..with a couple $$ players they could be very good……so why not spend some $$??ecleme22 wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 11:07 amThe Ricketts lowered payroll during their rebuildGoldfan wrote: ↑29 Jul 2026 11:02 amCan someone explain why BDW can no longer spend $$. If a player quits the club will no doubt notice and hopefully dump them…
Exactly 1 other poster agrees with you.
Every other respondent disagrees with you.
And you ask why I’M here?
Ok.
Ole 2NIR is so disturbed by my postings he blocked me…..now I don’t chase him around this forum and rarely even directly respond to his posts but he had to block me because he couldn’t keep himself his finger from opening and reading sometimes alternative views in contrast with Cardinals FO propaganda. If those are your barometer for intelligent posters who “disagree” with me set your standards higher
Probably 20 other posters slso responded and they all disagreed with your take. Are they all unintelligent posters as you seem to think?
As I’ve said before at one time I thought you were actually a decent poster whose opinion I agreed with much of the time.
But that was back when the useless slug Mozeliak was dragging this club into oblivion.
There will be good times in Cardinal land again. But you seem to think the change should be instantaneous.
Most others including me realize it will take time. I myself believe this club will compete by 2029 with improvement each year until then.
I certainly am not looking forward to 2 more years of your incessant negativity until then but whatever.

Atlanta reduced payroll during their rebuild (hit 22nd in 2015).
Philadelphia reduced payroll during their rebuild (hit 23rd in 2018).
All teams with deeper pockets than the Cardinals, all rolled back spending to low levels during their rebuilding years.
I don't know why people act like they don't get this.
