And get beat the first 2 times that badly!!
If the Cardinal players are unable to get fired up to play their Rivals, then the whole team needs to be Traded or DFA'd!!!
No Excuse For The Pitiful Effort By This Team!!!
Marmol Needs To Be Fired Before Tomorrow's Game

Managers generally get fired when their team no longer performs to the best of their abilities.
This team was overperforming for the first 40% of the season, but then hasn't for a the past 25% of the season.
My guess is that Marmol still has a lot of leash left.
Lot of comfort zone for Marmol. Luckiest manager in MLB history. One pobo gives him an undeserved extension and "no pressure to win ". Then the team goes into rebuild and winning isn't a priority. And the owner doesn't want to pay a better manager during a potential work stoppage. It truly is fascinating how lucky one guy can be.

All teams go into slumps, and the Cardinals are definitely in one now. When you have a young, mostly inexperienced team, it can snowball as well. This team doesn’t have any veteran leadership, other than some of the Coaches. However, with Marmol being the Manager, it starts and stops with him.
Last night’s game is a prime example.
The Cubs jumped on fastballs in the zone, but weren’t trying to pull everything. The Cardinals were taking fastballs, and then swinging at junk off the plate.
Both teams’ infield was playing hitters up the middle. The Cardinals hit the ball right to them, the Cubs hit the ball in the holes created by the defensive strategy.
The Cardinals do not really seem to have any strategy, other than take hittable strikes and swing at unhittable junk, and hit a 5 run homer while doing so.
Maybe Marmol is telling them to do something different and they aren’t listening, but most likely he isn’t telling them anything at all.
Either way, he’s not the leader they need.

well....
apparently they can
Exactly my thoughts... "or else what?"
a larger problem may be getting the Cubs to leave...

You think being fired up wins games over talent or performance?
