As a pro, you should have enough pride to care. And a major league manager should be able to motivate. Its not like DeWitt, Bloom, or anyone else in the organization is walking into the clubhouse every day saying "You guys suck and won't be around in a few weeks!"

With the second game of the Cubs series underway and MM getting knocked out in the second inning, it should solidify Bloom's thoughts on what has to be done before Monday's trade deadline.

Whatever he does is not going to move the needle. The level of giddyness over trading spare parts is mystifying.

Of course they're spare parts. If they had an all-star team they wouldn't need to sell.

If a guy isn't seen as a part of the future and they can get something for him that can be part of the future, he's gotta go.
