Trade Deadline

Post by Hoosier59 »

I know it can be fun to speculate and devise trade scenarios, I often do it myself. However, I swear there are those on here that would trade their Mother just to see what kind of a return they might get!
I’m not singling out any one Poster, because I’ve seen some good ideas.
The fact remains though, there are people on here that would trade any of our players just to get some new player or players. Then in a year or two, or just when those players are starting to pan out, they start speculating trades for them. I must say I find it a little tiring and can’t help but wonder what would ever truly please them?
It’s my opinion that the Cardinals have a few players that they should look to trade, and not for the sake of just seeing what they might get in return. Then they also have several players, that in my opinion should not be traded unless Bloom is completely blown away. I’ve always said you have to listen on just about everyone, but usually no other team will be willing to let go of what it would take to make that kind of a trade worthwhile, or beneficial!

Need to trade:
May, Nootbaar, Stanek, Romero

Should listen to offers on:
Herrera, Winn, Burleson, Pallante, Leahy, O'Brien

No interest in trading:
Wetherholt, Walker, McGreevy

I'd absolutely trade my mother for the right return, but she's not a Cardinal.

I wouldn't trade much from the big league roster besides guys with expiring contracts and then a couple guys like Noot, Velasquez, and potentially Herrera or catching depth. That's only for the right return and because they aren't great fits here. I would definitely not trade any minor leaguers outside of Gorman if you can get something for him.

Yep. Add Crooks and Pages.

If the focus is a 2028 and beyond competitive window, these names pop. In a couple of years the Cardinals are buyers at the deadline or this rebuild didn't take.

This trade window goes into the off season. Noot can go then.

Nice call on Pages. Totally forgot him.

Good post!
I know it’s tough to be patient at times but I think it’s currently necessary.
As you said....lots of cost controlled players so not like they cost big $$.

Excellent post.

I’m assuming I get what I want before the trade deadline and trading the following:

May as a rental.
Noot before he gets hurt and he does not fit long term IMO.
Libby. It’s just time for him to move.
A catcher. Listen hard on IH.

And as you said listen on everyone except pitchers Mc G, Pallante and Leahy. I think we have a basic core in them.

Excellent read on the current situation by JuanA.

Need to trade:
May, Nootbaar, Stanek, Romero, (Suggested adds: Pages, Crooks, Vealasz, Gorman, ???)

Should listen to offers on:
Herrera, Winn, Burleson, Pallante, Lib, O'Brien

No interest in trading:
Wetherholt, Walker, McGreevy

Might suggest "Should listen..." be changed to "Accept Quality Offers on:" - Winn and Leahy are tough call to be included in this category. Add Lib do not have Leahy on this list. Do not believe the offers for IH and Burly will be as robust as fans would hope. Pallante would show Bloom's negotiating talent - hopefully obtain greater return than player current talent.

Again, well done Juan.

Ideally the Dodgers would like a reunion with May and we can get 1 of their pile of OF prospects for him.

Romero’s illness has likely ruined his trade value, which is a bummer.

Pages should be moved for whatever the team can get, as carrying 3 catchers on the MLB roster makes little sense.

The team should listen on Nootbaar and O’Brien, but I don’t feel like we have good options to replace them, and they both have at least another year of team control, so I see no reason to trade them now unless the team receives a great trade offer.

I don’t see the trade deadline this year moving the needle very much, as we don’t have players that can be traded and have good trade value.

I don’t really see a lot special with him unless he’s gotten a lot better this years. MLB’s scouting report has him as a 40 overall with a 50 FB and 50 slider. RHP topping out at 92 mph?

And he’s a Cub on top of it.

Now this one would interest me. Especially if all it would take is what is being proposed. Trade w/ Bo-Sox for Marcelo Mayer:

Jackson can play 3B, so possibly it could be a buy low, but that's assuming he lives up to more of his offensive potential than what he's showed to this point at the show.

With the 2 teams interconnections, this one has a chance to develop I'd guess.
