BUT
His recent struggles has changed my mind.
He may be better off staying at AAA until September call-ups, he even then.
If he's still having issues, then keep him down on the farm.
I have never seen him in person only on tape.
I still don’t get why some are so anxious to rush players?
Especially when they concede that we aren’t going anywhere?
Especially given the Cards issues, why would you want to bring a kid up (re: hitter) when the offense (sans Burly) is in a massive team slump and he's been in a long one too?
And you can only give a decent “look” to so many guys at a time.
Baez certainly figures to have a higher ceiling than Church/Torres/Velasquez/etc and his time is coming.
As much as I’m excited to see Baez let him progress at his own pace. As others have said he was in AA last year and before that he struggled.
LOL...the same people who want to push his call up are the SAME ones who will then (A female canine animal, especially a dog) if he struggles.
Then complain that he was rushed too soon.
By recent reports he does need more time.
One thing I learned about C. Bloom when doing my homework on him was he's a firm believer in only calling kids up from the minors when he feels they have the maximum chance to succeed! No panic callups from the new POBO and I like that.
Church is an 11th round draft pick, Torres a career minor leaguer and "V" was nothing more than a flyer they took on him.
JAGesse isn't a major league caliber player.
When does Baez get some runway?

Oh and I guess “runway” is the word of the year?![]()
BTW, I'm getting tired of that "runway".
Sure hope 2027 brings a big increase in payroll and some quality major league players via FA & trades.
Hopefully the balance of 2026 identifies where they need to spend.
Plus the farm system seems to be cooking so ST 2027 also may present more options from top prospects?
Color me optimistic!

To be fair, we traded away WC and Nado as part of this rebuild. I think the minors will supply the MLB roster with some better than replacement level options by 2028.82birds wrote: ↑28 Jul 2026 14:25 pmpretty sad for a major leauge team to have holes 5-9BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑28 Jul 2026 12:00 pmYours is a fair assessment, Rock. The fact that it rarely, if ever, responded directly to anything anybody said, and instead just doubled-down on its simplistic, repeated subject matter?
Spoke in patterns and catch phrases?
Often made absolutely zero sense, as if you're not actually talking to a person?
These bots have been around for a few decades at this point; all internet forums and comments sections have some AI-controlled accounts at this point.
I'm sure there's going to be people here who live eternally in denial that they checked in every day for years to argue with a robot, but the Shady account was a bot, dude. Sorry.

Church is barely a major league player. Torres deserves to get a couple week's of starts in a row. He has the plate discipline to improve dramatically.
If he has one hot week he will be back over .800 OPS.
Church is terrible.

Another Ferminator start in the Outfield tonight. Sure, would be nice to give Baez some runway to crush the Cubs at home.
The backup infielders don't need runway in LF. I know he's Oli's favorite and all, but this guy doesn't need to play everyday
