He slides his right anchor foot backwards as he swings. He has no stability in his lower body and is too far in front. Any high school coach would immediately correct this but we continue to watch him flounder in the box. The same coaches that watched Gorman make the same mistakes over and over and over again simply can’t get through to the players or don’t have the players respect. Bring in Jimmy Edmonds or Pujols or Teddy Simmons to teach these young players the intricacies of hitting. When Pujols played his last season with us the young players were mobbing him. They don’t mob Brandt Brown for some reason

I'm not a major league hitter or coach. I played little league ans a kid and some pickup softball games as an adult. I tried to teach my daughters to hit a softball.

I defer to the masters here. But Winn's stance and swing just looks weird.

With the ML average batting average hovering around .235, how have they not gotten high school coaches to "easily correct" all the problems?

There really is a difference between how players are coached through the amateur and collegiate levels and how they get coached through the professional minor leagues. Count me among those who think it's a blind spot for the organization.

Then its a blind spot for the entire ML. There are a few exceptions, but for the majority, ML baseball players cannot hit any more. I personally think that the pitching is just too good today. They didnt see this pitching in HS, college, and very rarely in the minors. Everything they learned through the ranks, becomes moot in the majors.

I never said that I thought he would make hall of fame but his defensive skills might be that good but if he remains scared of a pitched baseball it is not going to happen. Might even be a stretch for the cardinal hall of fame
