Liberatore needs to be moved to the bullpen.

Post by WhiteyHerzog »

Liberatore needs to be moved to the bullpen. Why is he getting so many chances? 1.52 whip and so many games where we lose the game before we have a chance. It’s time to bring up Quinn Mathews.

If by bullpen, I hope you mean the DFA line.

Mathews will be here in about a week.

Libby has filthy major league stuff but it takes him too long to find the groove. He can’t be a reliever because it takes him 2-3 innings to get his rhythm. Early on his pitches are too high in the zone. I’m watching the fourth inning now and he’s in his groove. I think maybe he’s too strong early in the game and needs to settle down. It sure seems to me that a good pitching coach could help fix him. He’s too good to give up on.

Who do the Angels have? We know that Mo would love to have him to prove he’s the smartest man in the game.

Liberatore was effective as a miid-relief/long reliever before we forced him back to starting so that isnt true at all. Opponent ops .673 career relief vs .802 for starting.

Pitchers pitch differently and throw harder as relievers. Rather than starting where they have to pace themselves for potentially 100 pitches.

Also while liberatote does hVe poor first inning splits this year-
1st- 7.2 era .908 ops
The 2nd and 3rd inning are actually his best innings.
-2bd- 3.2 era .643 ops and 2.57 era .522 ops

While innings 4-6 are even all worse than hi 1st inning splits.

But out of pen you usually throw harder in 1st inning. Hes fine as a reliever

Baseball is one of the strangest things. I think everybody that went to BS3 tonight knew Libby shouldn't be anywhere near the mound tonight. I know it, you know it, the second base umpire knew it... yet here we are

The best option is send him to Mo out in California

Mo is stupid and arrogant enough to trade for him, maybe package Gorman too?

Been saying this for months

But the clown in the dugout doesn't have the smarts to see it.

When asked about Libby going to AAA, Oli replied:

"No chance,” Marmol said. “I have not thought of it once.”

You have not thought of it once?

Proving he's an idiot if it never even crossed his mind.

He's got a 5.26 ERA/1.56 WHiP!

He's throwing BP

I don’t think he would be effective bull pen. Even when on track it takes him too many pitches to get on track. IMO not a bull pen guy.

Not surprised by Oli’s response. He’s not going to discuss that with media.

But overall I think Libby has to go. Could we trade him for something?

I also don’t have that much confidence in Dobbins but he will have to do. Matthew’s needs to come up.

He's been a very useful RP in his career:

67 G
3.89 ERA
1.18 WHiP

Now he may be so messed up he needs some time in the pitching lab but as mentioned above, Oli doesn't think so.

As for trade potential, he has nothing but lotto ticket prospect back value in a solo deal.

He needs to be offloaded. He's not going to cut it as a starter, and he's not going to be a happy camper in the bullpen.
