Wilson and Micheletti/Affleck will always be the gold standard for me. Everyone since has been a downgrade. Though I mostly liked Pang. I didn't even like Vitale in 2019 during the playoffs. I can understand your disappointment the score was never given on the radio. You wrote Kerber on Twitter?TBone wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 16:14 pmWilson and Micheletti will always be my Mt. I like Kelly-Pang and Kerber-Vitale fine since if I'm watching on television I can see what's going on. On the radio though Kerber and Vitale can be a tough listen. Some friends and I were at a bar-restaurant after and event last season and it broke up early in the 3rd period of a close game we were watching of TV. I got in the car and drove 20 miles before Kerber finally told the score - and then only going into a commerical break.
It was outrageous and completely against everything radio brodcasters are supposed to do. Some old baseball announcers would bring an egg timer hourglass and everytime it had to be turned over they'd work in the score. I nicely let Kerber know about it, but have no clue if he got the note or not.

Re: John Kelly
I presume not since he filled in a few times on radio in the past. The radio broadcasts were instantly better.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 16:15 pmDoes McKenna have tv work? I'm not aware that he does.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 14:17 pmWhich is why I shake my head every time someone says "the same broadcasters on TV and radio don't work" when it did work in the past. Replace Vitale with McKenna. And the broadcasts are much improved.netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 01:18 amNo, you’re not, and I’m old enough to remember when we only got a small handful of games on tv for the whole year.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 00:11 am I guess I am the only one that remembers Wilson and Micheletti/Affleck working TV and radio at the same time for years.

Wilson was better in those days, but later he became too cartoonish. The “oh baby”s were forced and it wasn’t nearly as good. I like Kelly and Pang, but ultimately the announcers aren’t the end of the world. I’m watching the game.DIAMONDINTHEROUGH wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 21:02 pmWilson and Micheletti/Affleck will always be the gold standard for me. Everyone since has been a downgrade. I never heard any regression of Wilson unless it happened his last year with the team when I moved away. I mostly listen to the games on radio. And would sometimes listen to the opposing team's feed on the NHL app if I really liked their broadcasters.netboy65 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 23:50 pmWilson was better in those days, but later he became too cartoonish.
