An earlier post mentioned BT has a temper. Maybe he gets sauced during the rain delay and twists off during the telecast. Might be more interesting than the game.

He tries to be “funny”, I don’t want funny, I want pertinent info in team
Other telecasts I get on Extra Innings is so much more informative ya know about the game I’m actually watching, the Mets telecast is outstanding
Cards telecast are a marketing [nonsense] shill without any true analysis or criticism

Right. Because she needs to be at least as good-looking as Brad Thompson.dugoutrex wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 14:53 pmDani? - that woman has a face for RADIO onlybrucesutterHOF wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 14:35 pm Is there any chance Chips’s son or Sweeney or Dani or Claiborne could replace him for 2027? Maybe Chip by himself like Vin Scully?
Seems like whoever his boss is has to know Thompson is terrible. Anytime he takes a day off the broadcast is instantly better.
He is perfect to help with the Fredbird crew and Chip seems to keep suggesting that he could join them. Thompson seems like he is up for it. Perfect match
Don't forget to brush your tooth.

I Never knew before BT talks, just how much I didn't care about, when he talks.

Absolutely. I don’t know how many batteries I drained listening to West Coast games and dozing off. I could pick up Houston and the Amarillo AA team, too. Listened to the Chisox a bit right after Harry left.OldRed wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 08:31 amAt least he made the game interesting. Harry announced the game as a fan and every hit and out meant something. Many listeners in the late 40's 50's and 60's never had the opportunity to go to a game, but they loved baseball just because of Harry.12xu wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 22:01 pmHe is not wrong. When Harry was the main man on KMOX in the sixties, he was over the top all the time. Thing is, most of the games were not televised, so unless you were at the game, you did not realize how much Harry exaggerated.11WSChamps wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 19:45 pmYou're wrong yet again.Melville wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 19:43 pmLearned from his grandfather.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 19:32 pm If you had to listen to Chip instead of watching it, you'd never know what happened. Line drives are bloopers, deep drives are medium fly balls, great catches rare routine plays...drives me nuts. It's like I'm watching a different game.

Harry Caray was not just an announcer; he was an entertainer.
And a very good one. No one could drip disdain like that guy.
"He missed it by 2 feet! I'm not sure there is a barn that guy could hit!"
He was the comedic equivalent of Vin Scully, and for me, endlessly entertaining. Of course, he had Jack Buck as his foil, who was great in a different way.

Cleary this will be an unpopular post on this thread, but I feel compelled to speak up. I have been listening to and watching Cardinals broadcasts since the early 1970's. I am a very loyal and interested fan (some would say too loyal and interested). I thoroughly enjoy Brad Thompson, and I would really miss him if he left. It's a very subjective thing, and I'm surprised I'm in such a minority.

With all respect, FloridaFan, you will never have to worry about BT leaving for another job.FloridaFan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 20:23 pm Cleary this will be an unpopular post on this thread, but I feel compelled to speak up. Re: Brad Thompson just won’t shutup
What parts do you enjoy the most? His movie critiques, his family Barbeque stories, Legos stories, color of Chip’s socks stories? That list can go on and on. I think the people that don’t like him such as myself is because he talks about everything except what’s going on in the game. I don’t care what he had for dinner. I don’t care what movie he went to last week. But, to each their own, I miss Mike Shannon.FloridaFan wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 20:23 pm Cleary this will be an unpopular post on this thread, but I feel compelled to speak up. Brad being Brad was much less annoying back when the team was winning. Nights like tonight no thanks
