My Cards 21 and under lineup w/o 2026 draft players.

Post by DewittDaman11 »

Lots of good young talent, and the only position I'm having trouble filling is the DH, ironically. I got:
SS Sebastian Dos Santos (S)
C Rainiel Rodriguez (R)
2B Yairo Padilla (S)
LF Emanuel Luna (R)
CF Tai Peete (L)
3B Jesus Baez (R)
RF Ryan Mitchell (L)
1B Deniel Ortiz (R)
DH ?

Throw in Condon and Maniscalco and it's a downright disgusting collection of talent, all positions covered well. I think a DH is sometimes hard to peg at 21 and under because it's a position players usually fall into after the defense shakes out in the upper minors. Not sure if players are ever drafted as a DH? Probably not. At any rate, that's a boatload of talent that's on the way. Lot's of quality Latin American talent that we don't usually see in the Cardinals system. Go Cards!

That's hilarious, Crav, I had both those guys down as possible DH's. I was also floating Yordalin Pena with his second go around at Palm Beach looking good. But, yeah, especially Estrella, nice numbers.

I feel like the farm is flush with position talent right now. I wish I was as impressed on the pitching side.

Maybe some will emerge. And maybe I'm not as informed or smart enough to recognize what they got.

I'm not an expert, and I'll never claim that my opinion is, but I put my Top 15 on another thread, and it had 9 pitchers represented

I think our pitching is on the right track, and with the return of Hjerpe, soon return of Roby, and the start to the career of Clarke...I think there's a nice train there that will make a stop every year dropping off 2-3 pitching prospecst for the Rotation and BP...and that train should be returning every year for a long time considering how we've been restocking via trade and draft.

here's the link...most pundits will have something similar, but maybe not as aggressive on a few rankings, but they're in denial

I'm not going to lie, at this point I kinda hope the Cardinals miss the playoffs so as to be lottery eligible in 2027. At this point at least, the 27 draft seems rife with college pitching at the top. We could do well to pick up some extra picks(here's rooting for JJ ROY). Maybe trade for more picks, if possible. I really think if the Cardinals can have just one more good draft in 27, we'll be playoff/WS bound for years to come afterwards.

Maybe I'm looking for that ace type guy. I don't see him. Maybe one will emerge. I dunno. If not they are expensive and usually over 30 on the market.

Yeah it would be nice to choose in the top 3. How long has that been?

It seems like we have an embarrassment of riches. Is it just us? There is a storyline about the talent around the entire league getting younger, more athletic. Great players debuting earlier with less time needed in minors (just look at this year's rookie class). Perhaps the story is more about young people in general able to "develop" quicker due to modern diet, training, sports science etc.... 16 year olds who look 22.. that sort of thing.

So is every other organization like this too? Or do the Cardinals have a true machine coming?
