Re: Ross Johnston
I know this is a Johnston thread, but I’m pretty close to Harry on who I think makes it. Top 8 a given. 3RW up for grabs probably. 4th line a battle along with 13/14th forwards.
Holloway-RT-Snuggs
McMike/Neighbours - McT - Buch/Berggren
McMike/Neighbours - Dvorsky - Buch/Berggren
Johnston - Suter - Toro (my opinion)
Finley & Sunny extras
Dube & Walker waived to AHL or claimed
Kaski & Stenberg start in the AHL
When Stenberg gets called up, it’s for good.

Im also putting Kaskimaki in this camp with Stenberg whenever Kaskimaki gets the call hes here for good. I think the Blues like this kid, he checks a lot of boxes, checks, skates, scores. Could be a really good bottom 6er and i think Kaskimaki and Stenberg played on a line with Dvo in the AHLTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:32 pm I know this is a Johnston thread, but I’m pretty close to Harry on who I think makes it. Walker Torpo Berggren all signed to 2 yr deals Johnston 3 yrs. Contracts will be played over talent. Club doesn’t think kids are good enough. That’s why the extensions. Unless Suter is moved, there’s no spots.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 13:37 pmIm also putting Kaskimaki in this camp with Stenberg whenever Kaskimaki gets the call hes here for good. - Walker 2 yrs @ $888k. No cap implication if in minors. I think he gets put on waivers
- Berggren only signed for 1 year @ $2m. He’ll make the team as 3RW / 13th forward. Not cut out for 4th line
- Johnston signed for a reason and will make the team
- Finley still a kid on cheap contract. Will most likely make the team as 14th forward. When he plays, Johnston or Berggren sits. Suter can play 3RW those night, Finley 4th line C.
- Sunny probably gets sent down but I think he starts the season as 14th forward.
Again, nobody is blocked. Walker’s spot will go to Finley or Berggren who are both still very young. Sunny’s spot will probably go to Kaski. If Berggren is ineffective, he’ll get traded/waived. Suter is a UFA at end of season and may get traded. Stenberg claims bottom 6 role if either of those happen. And if Stenberg or Kaski plays better than Finley, they will take his spot. Again, nobody is blocked by any of these contracts, they just have to be the better player.

Berggren is one yr a $2 million, Walker (2) yrs at $800k, Torop (2) yrs at $2.5 (this is why i think he sticks), Dube (1) yr at $850k.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 14:03 pmWalker Torpo Berggren all signed to 2 yr deals Johnston 3 yrs. IF the Blues think someone is outperforming Walker for instance, 2 yrs at $800k is nothing, could be waived. Same with Dube. I think they like Berggren enough he will make it, Torop makes it then two pressbox spots, rotation Im thinking Sunny is one too

If everything shakes out like it should, and there are no major injuries - Johnston probably plays in 60 games.
He was brought on to provide a heavy forecheck and also to push a guy like Toropchenko as well.
Holloway - Thomas - Snuggerud
McMichael - MacTavish - Buchnevich
Neighbours - Dvorsky - Berggren / Stenberg
Johnston - Suter - Toropchenko
The middle six will see some movement, but lines 1 and 4 are probably set.

What’s the propaganda? Johnston has zero to do with any of the kids. Unless there was a 22 y.o. Johnston in the system (there isn’t) he isn’t holding anyone back. They were adding a physical presence to the 4th line, so Neighbours isn’t forced into the enforcer role Schenn had to play the last couple seasons. Those guys are going to be competing with Berggren, Finley, Toroochenko and Walker for roster spots. I don’t see what your issue is.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 17:38 pmYou just keep buying into that Steen and Army propaganda- good for you.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 17:34 pmYou’re funny.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 14:03 pmWalker Torpo Berggren all signed to 2 yr deals Johnston 3 yrs. I am getting excited like I usually do preseason. And don't forget Monty behind the bench.

The club thinking the kids aren’t good enough and the club thinking the kids aren’t ready yet are two totally different things.
One is obvious and logical….the other is what some dumb fans would say that don’t have a clue.
And those two year deals are a drop in the bucket…they will hold NO ONE back when it does comes time to making room for the young kids.
Guys like Walker and Torop are traded all the time for future considerations or even draft picks.
I don’t believe in propaganda. I believe my eyes and it is obvious what the Blues have done this off season. You shouldn’t hold it against them that they didn’t spell it out for you…..

Re: Ross Johnston
It’s quite obvious don’t need it spelled out thanks. Club doesn’t think any of the recent draft picks even Dvorsky are good enough to play here so they took a swing at McTavish hoping he rebounds and the rest are fringe guys including Johnston. The re whatever continues…….Bubble4427 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 23:58 pmI never said anything like that.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 17:38 pmYou just keep buying into that Steen and Army propaganda- good for you.Bubble4427 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 17:34 pmYou’re funny.Bacchk29 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 14:03 pmWalker Torpo Berggren all signed to 2 yr deals Johnston 3 yrs. Top 8 a given. 3RW up for grabs probably. 4th line a battle along with 13/14th forwards.
Holloway-RT-Snuggs
McMike/Neighbours - McT - Buch/Berggren
McMike/Neighbours - Dvorsky - Buch/Berggren
Johnston - Suter - Toro (my opinion)
Finley & Sunny extras
Dube & Walker waived to AHL or claimed
Kaski & Stenberg start in the AHL
When Stenberg gets called up, it’s for good.
Hockey knowledge is tough…just try harder and don’t give up!
