Quotes that go unnoticed from announcers
One yesterday when Chip mentioned how many starts Fermin has had recently.
Another good comment was when the foul ball came into the booth and Sweeney said I was pinch hitter, not known for defense and Chip said I'm 60 years old I wasn't going to try and catch it. I thought it was a good exchange.
Just a couple of random thoughts.
Also, Leahy pitched a terrific game yesterday on a very hot day.

Were the announcers are sitting is not like the 3rd base line before they put the netting up. Only if you weren't paying attention and a foul ball hits you in the head would be the only chance they would be hurt by a foul ball were they sit.plus the color guys are ex pro player's and should be used to catching a ball even without a glove.

I think Chip and Mark were playing up the situation. I doubt either were scared of the foul ball.Decker57 wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 10:32 am Were the announcers are sitting is not like the 3rd base line before they put the netting up. I think Steve Stone was just dropping baseballs into Harry's net. What you wanna bet Harry, Jack, Whitey and the Big Eagle are playing pinochle with Stan or Red and quaffing an ice-cold Bud, Michelob or Busch Bavarian?JuanAgosto wrote: ↑27 Jul 2026 20:17 pmI think Steve Stone was just dropping baseballs into Harry's net. I have a 1960 Cardinal yearbook somewhere. In there is a picture of Gussie shagging flies in Saint Pete at spring training. Must have been a blast!

I thought I read somewhere that Red was from rural Central Illinois. Doubt Mr. Busch and Harry are doing anything together.
