Why is he still pitching coach?? Why was he ever hired as pitching coach??
Is there anything that anyone here sees that he does to produce a better pitching staff?
This guy could walk off into the world and I don’t think anyone would notice but this FO, even tho new and bringing in their own, Keep this guy around
This narrative that the team is REBUILDING so just keep the turds……Oli, Dusty…..whoever
The Chit continues to stink and contaminate the cleanup until it’s completely purged and cleansed.

1. Because the organization isn't making coaching changes.
2. Because he's buddies with Oli.
3.He is lauded for keeping pitchers healthy.

I think Blake is on the same page as Bloom and his analytics team.

The focus on winning comes once BDW has a system full of cheap payroll. It will take time to stock the system.
I think they are willing to let the staff grow with the roster.

If there is a lengthy lock out his choices will be to show a little urgency and spend some $$$ or sell the team. My guess is after the work stoppage the patience will be gone. I’m not sure DeWitt III has the stomach to spend and compete.

There is a good chance the pending lockout is why Bloom didn't bring in a new manager. An experienced, high level manager (which I'm assuming people want) will be a 5 year deal for BIG $$$. If year 1 (2026) was slated to be a re-building year and year 2 is likely to be delayed by a work stoppage (as well as another re- building year), why would he knowing waste 2 years of a 5 year deal and whatever dollars?

The cubs are a perfect example. They had the immortal Rick Renteria managing the team through the worst parts of their re-build. Once they were ready to compete, they made the move for Joe Maddon.

Additionally, it's also very possible Bloom has a candidate or two he's interested in who aren't currently available.

Maybe it is as simple as the owner of the Cardinals is not as wealthy as he presents to the public. Therefore, he doesn't have the money or he has a budget so limited for the Cardinals that he can't find the money to spend.

Blake isn’t the one deciding that every inning needs a new reliever no matter how few pitches the previous inning required. One and done until he finds the one who can’t get it done, e.g. Svanson, Oli is the decider.

DeWitt has the $. He got back 1/2 of what he paid for the team when he sold the parking garages. He enjoyed huge crowds for 25 years. There were multiple post season runs to bring in extra cash. He had a sweet TV deal for twenty years. And BPV has been very profitable. Billy Boy isn't 100% honest about the finacials since he separates BPV from the team revenues.

My primary issue with Blake is I think he is too slow to go to the mound to settle a pitcher down. Maybe this is a team philosophy but with a young staff I would like to see more mound visits. IMO.

This right here is exactly the reason as I see it. Why waste a good hire on a rebuild going into a lockout. All things will change on the backside of the lockout. Until then no money spent, no notable hires. Once 27 is done and gone they will have a good idea of at a minimum of 5 guys that will be the 2027 and beyond base for the starting 9 and at least 3 good starters all home grown and fired up. They will ad a few notable FA's or trade pieces and somewhere in there expect a new management crew to get the boys fired up. Oli and his crew are on borrowed time unless they can make a team of nobodies do something special in spite of them.

REBUILDING…..starting from square 1 with young impressionable talent. Would you rather have the best manager and coaching staff to mold these youngsters into winners or some cheap clueless neophytes?

I don't know if Blake is a decent pitching coach or not but one thing I don't agree with him and Marmol is they will let a pitcher struggle in a inning throwing more than 20 pitches in the heat and not go out to the mound to give the pitcher a break.
I watch many games were other team pitching coaches go out to try to settle their pitcher down or give them a breather but it isn't very often do you see Blake go out there. Maybe Marmol will not let him go out there but if so I think they are doing their pitches a injustice in not give a struggling pitcher a couple minutes to reset and catch their breath.
