Pitching Situation Today in 10th
Many posters said what was Marmol to do other than bring in Svanson. Well if he wouldn't have used Graceffo yesterday with a 7 run lead, he would have been available. Graceffo 3.16 era, 1.13 whip, 1.92 avg.. He's been our best pitcher in the pen this year. Bloom will probably trade him!

In his last 15 appearances, Graceffo sports a 5.89 ERA and 1.58 WHIP.
Prior to his 2 shutout innings yesterday he'd had two bad outings in a row.
Let's not act like if Greceffo had pitched today this game would have been a sure win.

Agreed. But pitching Svanson made it a sure loss.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:41 pm In his last 15 appearances, Graceffo sports a 5.89 ERA and 1.58 WHIP.

Yeah, agree with that. He should not be on this roster. There has to be another arm in the minors.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:45 pmAgreed. Right on. I don't care if it is a rebuild. That guy's runway is out of pavement. Get a look at the next arm.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:45 pmYeah, agree with that. Right - how hard can it be to find a better option with all the failed SPs we've cycled thru in Memphis the past 4 years? We have SO much quantity.cardinalsfever44 wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:45 pmYeah, agree with that. He should not be on this roster. Not here to defend Svanson by any means.
Last year he was really good and this year really bad.
So far Soriano has been good and Graceffo fair.
Work in progress 2026.

Not necessarily championing Graceffo but Marmol has done that so many times this year. We can go through game logs and note where he used a pitcher unnecessarily in a game that he didn’t need to then two days later we are short in the bullpen because a guy was used the day before. Managing a bullpen is tough, takes years of experience. Not one of Marmol’s strong suits.
The biggest issue though is our offense. I believe we had 3 hits after nine innings. Wetherholt and Herrera were 1-9 so our middle of the order had zero chances to impact the game.

Yeah I realize that. It was one of the 3 hits. His double Friday was his first XBH in over two weeks. What was it, his first HR in how long. His avg had dropped into the .230s and his OPS has dropped below .750. Anyone who thinks that Herrera hasn’t been struggling just isn’t watching. Our offense has become stagnant in a large part because the top of the order just isn’t getting on base enough. Walker and Burleson are still hitting but their RBI opportunities have declined because of a lack of traffic in front of them.

100%. Herrera seems worn down. A smart manager mightve given him a day off before last week.Whatashame wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 21:43 pmJuanAgosto wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 21:24 pmYou realize Herrera hit a hr today right?Whatashame wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 20:50 pmstlbirdlover wrote: ↑26 Jul 2026 18:34 pm Many posters said what was Marmol to do other than bring in Svanson. Wetherholt is guessing and pressing. Hes had some really ugly at bats.
