NEW Strickland Interview With Tynan Lawerence

Post by TBone »

I haven't even watched this myself.

Advance the media player to 52:20. Hopefully it's good.

This was a tough intrrview. Strick tried to make the interview flow with some weird questions and tynan seemed nervous and had the boanket responses on point. Maybe strick needed cams help

I'm sure being 17 and interviewed by Andy probably wasn't easy.
Andy was late for the interview to start off so probably not much small talk to break the ice. His reason for being late was he was talking to someone's dad.
Then he asks between 2-5 questions per sentence combined with giving some of the answers. The kid probably wasn't sure what question to answer. This actually happened later in the interview when asked what he knows about the Blues and then followed that question with what does he know about St Louis.
He admitted he didn't know about the team Canada summer showcase invite which might be the most important experience of his career up to this date.
He referenced Crosby paling for the same Q team that drafted him which was wrong and this kid would know that.
Add to this some of the more questionable questions and no wonder the kid didn't feel comfortable.

Strickland is an awkward dude.

I don't mean to hate on the guy and I appreciate his knowledge of the team, and his reporting, but I'm not a huge fan of listening to him speak.

Strick seems to need someone that has their own nhl experience to have the fun quick banter. I definitely dont put that interview on tynan. Strick also didnt seem to get the answers he wanted so he throws a hail marry “when do you think you will be NHL ready?”

I wanted to hear more about who Lawrence models his game after etc. I do like when asked about if he wants to score lots of points he said everyone does but then reverted right back to wants to play a 200 ft game and not cheat on plays. Can’t wait to see how this kid develops over the next 2-3 years.

When he first started out, I couldn't stand him. My wife thought he was Dudley Doright!

Lawrence did a great job period nevertheless for a young kid just coming into his own in pro hockey.

Once again he twice hit on how he wants to accelerate his learning curve by playing up with older guys at BU. I thought it smart of him when he did not answer the question on "how long it will take him to get here" which I thought was a near inappropriate question for this point and time in his young career......the kid knew better and played it right.

I sense Lawrence is on a mission....I sense he wanted to say I can get there in 2 years.......but I do believe his mission is to do just that.
