Perfectly willing to move on from Herrera depending on return, obviously.

I would not consider a .240ish DH a foundational piece. Would trade him for any reasonable offer.

Speaking of funerals...when I die, I want the '26 Cardinals to lay my casket in the ground. So they can let me down one last time.
that would be quite the undertaking.

That would be 5 positions that need a full time starter. That’s a lot especially when you’ve needed them for a few years. Money has to be spent. The minors aren’t going to fill all of these. The last few years haven’t been good. You can’t wait another five years to fill these

The Marmot's brutal in-game mismanagement of the pitching staff strikes yet again!

Well... hopefully Josh Baez(LF) and Bernal(C) are ready to step up next ST?
I still have hope for Church. Let’s see how he finishes 2026?
Could Noot slide to CF??
3B I agree is a big question. Guess we’ll find out about Blaze?

Yeah, defintely ready for Bernal. Crooks isn't ready at all. Can't hit and his defense isn't good enough to make up for it.

Yes
When you looked at the Prospect Rankings in the preseason the Catcher position had the best high end depth:
Crooks
Bernal
Rodriquez

Crooks was first and I agree that so far he doesn’t appear to have it.
Bernal is next and he seems to have the best balance between offense and defense.
September call up???
Rodriquez is a year or so away but he sounds like a potential dynamic bat.
Not saying he won’t catch but he could certainly switch positions.

This is a good question. At what point do you have to decide between adequate and elite? If this is our future core, well they've been 0 for X with RISP for like 6 out of 7 games most of this month against bad pitchers. We can't just chalk that up to rebuilding and then say they are also our future core.

The game was lost when the pitcher took the mound.

We have/have had so much quantity depth at C, but are we going to get a championship caliber everyday starter out of that bunch?

Bernal has been in the Org 6 years. 6! Maybe its time we see what he can really do?

He’s next in line for sure.
Crooks was rated fairly high. He’s getting his shot and has stunk so far.
Bernal could be getting his shot very soon???
