Everyone on here mocking those who wanted NV on the Opening Day roster cracks me up. You all are conveniently omitting the really good Spring Training this guy had. At the time there was a strong argument for him to make the club.

But now that he has struggled (like most of the lineup), you all come on here like some know-it-all blowhards.

No I said so at the time thats why I brought it up.

I said his role should be just what it is. RH bat off the bench and DH against lefties.

You had fanboys here believing he was suddenly going to be the answer after being dropped by several clubs.

Sorry if that makes too much sense for you.

I did not follow spring training, but please don't say all. I base my opinion of this guy on watching him play the regular season. Poor fielder who hit for a minute, but is not the answer.

Pretty much this.... If he got regular PT he might recover a bit at the plate, but he is not a long-term answer to anything on this team. So you give the ABs to Church. Everyone thinks they will trade Noot if there is any market. If that happens people want Baez brought up, but he is struggling again in AAA. I cannot pull his stats for the last 10-20 games, but I know he was scuffling a bit. So V is on this team for now and it will be interesting to see if Noot is still on it on Aug 3..... If he is gone, then V gets a lot more PT, or someone from the minors gets a promotion..... Interesting times.

I’m sorry, but the anger some people displayed after he didn’t make the team out of the spring was always ridiculous. One good spring doesn’t negate what he had done up to that point in his career. Don’t get me wrong, he looked impressive in spring training offensively, but this front office had a plan, they probably knew what they had in him, they knew his history, and he’s just not the kind of player you throw out your plan for. You could make an argument that he “deserved” to make the team out of ST, but I think it’s a weak argument.

And he resembles Marcell Ozuna in LF on top of all that.

He came up hitting everything. He was playing everyday in AAA. Your stat is very telling...13 ABs since July 8.

Yep, 12 RBI in 17 starts with an .836 OPS and 14 K's in 60 PA (not bad). As a sub he's 2 for 13 with 9 K's. He still has 5 RBI in 7 starts in July.

This is all hindsight at this point. In March, he looked like a better choice than Saggese. And pointing at some front office plan is a weak argument. A true rebuild wouldn't have Pages starting a majority of the games early in the season. It wouldn't include a veteran like Stanek in the bullpen. It would be extended looks at young players. Not a mismatch of young guys and (bleep) veterans.

My problem isn't with someone (correctly) thinking NV isn't the answer now. Its with the clowns who are on here mocking anyone who thought he had played well enough in ST to deserve a spot on the OD roster. Based on ST performance, he definitely deserved a spot.

Nobody thought he was the difference making answer. Some thought his ST earned him a shot. That's it. He showed power potential this team needed. It made more sense than taking the redundant duo of Fermin and Saggese. Sorry if that is too hard for you to understand.

That's not what I was talking about.

He had a role and I was fine with it. But not as an everyday option and thats what a lot of well wishers were advocating him for. Some actually thought he was a 30 HR possibility.

You obviously missed those posts or forgot them. I didn't.

He had 4 home runs in 74 plate appearances if he did that for 600 plate appearances he would have 30 home runs. He has 35 in 689 career plate appearances so yea if he played everyday he would have 30 home runs for a full season.
