Meh, Rivers is just like us, fans with a lot of opinions he has no more real inside to what Monty will do than most of usNublues69 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 12:41 pmJamie rivers thinks so you should listen to the fast lane dailyBluesDom wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 12:37 pm The Blues have left no room for Carbonneau.
Stenberg will be lucky to make it and he should be here!
Too many bodies and not enough spots. Justin can earn it in AHL.
Kaskimaki has earned a spot, and he will not get one,
At this point is Carbonneau a better option than Pekarcik, Stenberg and Kaskimaki? One could argue--NO!
Let JC earn it.

Dube has a better chance to make the roster than both Stenberg and Carbs.
I base that on watching the Thunderbirds playoffs alone. Carbs and Stenberg were almost invisible while Dube was everywhere.
Ya’ll are some dreamers though. Keep focusing on those silver linings.

Not sure what politics have to do with anything, or why you confuse common sense and knowledge of youth development with fear. Also, weird recommendation that I should try less to be right? Isn't that the whole point of prediction threads and forum arguments - trying to be right? Just, weird. No matter the industry, you don't create a successful workplace by pushing youth who haven't earned it yet ahead of veterans (like Bergren, who himself was a 2nd round pick not too long ago). If anything, Bergren's failure in Detroit is precisely because they penciled him into the NHL lineup before he was ready.Nublues69 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 12:38 pmyou must be a dem trying to add fear into a conversation. I think we all know the blues are going to have ups and downs. You act like we are 1 player away from contenders LOL. seriously If carbs makes it then its caused he earned it. You said there was no way Dvorsky was going to play....look how that turned out. Was a very solid rookie year. Why dont you stop trying to be right and look toward the future. We are not a contender so why block a player with (bleep) like bergrenArmy's Mom wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 11:44 amIf he does, I hope fans and the coaching staff have a LOT of patience for losing hockey. Because he will need to play 2nd or 3rd line minutes to develop, and play through the inevitable mistakes he will make facing higher caliber opponents.
It worked for Perron. But those were some awful teams that could afford playing for the future. This team isn't being marketed as another "Come Grow With Us" year.
Why don't you stop trying to be controversial and edgy and start applying some common sense. I mean, 69 was a cool number to snicker at in middle school, now it just looks sad.

I think Rivers is much more knowledgeable than we are, just having made the show and also by being around the team as a former player. That said, he's blowing hot air here for the sake of creating argument and encouraging people to listen to the show - not making an expert prediction staking his reputation on it. That distinction is lost on some listeners. Nuance is subtle, after all.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 14:15 pmMeh, Rivers is just like us, fans with a lot of opinions he has no more real inside to what Monty will do than most of usNublues69 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 12:41 pmJamie rivers thinks so you should listen to the fast lane dailyBluesDom wrote: ↑24 Jul 2026 12:37 pm The Blues have left no room for Carbonneau.

There are no "sleeper" teams in the Central...there are 2 groups of teams...the contenders and the "also-rans". Right now the Blues are in the latter.

and while the Blues could still use a generational talent or two LIKE ALL OTHER NHL TEAMS, and THEIR WINDOW FOR ACQUIRING THAT TALENT WAS OPEN FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS BUT IS NOW CLOSED, Steen and Armstrong are doing well at improving the overall depth of the organization. Look for the Blues to be trading away their BEST DEPTH in the coming years in an attempt to bring in the weakest generational talent.

The Blues roster of last year has been significantly altered via both addition and subtraction. They are now a faster team, bigger team, more gritty team, more experienced team with a goalie tandem not likely to stumble out of the gate, on the contrary, they should be a source of team strength.
They improved in the areas they needed to address, most all of them, and with their age group where it is the chemistry should be there as well.
As for special teams, not sure they can get any worse off anyway but thing is a few of the additions to this roster should provide some PP pop (McT 5/6 last year, 2/4 year before) along with a more dependable PK.
No surprise from this homer....the Blues are your classic sleeper for the coming season.

We all seem to be anxious to see Carbonneau scoring goals for the Blues but that simply may not be happening right out of camp. I would think the first priority is to get lines settled with CM and MM now in the mix, and Johnson. Carlo should not be a concern and Lindstein played enough with Parayko to be comfortable. Make sure the team is settled in and not throwing away points. While that's going on Carbs gets acclimated to the pro game in the A playing a ton of minutes. At some point, whenever, he'll be deemed ready to go. On his own timetable.
That seems so obvious he'll undoubtedly be in the opening night lineup.
