Wonder if this has anything to do with our Russian prospects overseas? Probably not.

He was assistant coach and in charge of the defense for SKA in the KHL while Nikishin was there. I'm not saying Zubov coming here is related to our interest in Nikishin but It's a flag for sure.

I'm sure it has to do with our Russian prospects. Of which we have several now.

yeah, I'm pretty excited about Korotky's potential

SKA St. Petersburg (KHL) 2025-26
GP-43 G-14 A-13 P-27 PPG-0.63 PIM-8

If he has a good 2026-27 season, do you think he could crack the roster for 2027-28?
He is a center, correct? You can never have too many of those.

Right shot center. Blistering shot. Fast skater. That's the extent of my knowledge aside from his stats

The fact that Korotky, Buchelnikov and also Carbonneau all shoot right is maybe why the Blues aren't making a move now for a right handed shot.

Including Koromyslov (very mobile defender) who is now with the Blues. A bonus is that we have several more inbound in the next year or so...

Yeah I'm excited about Koromyslov.

I wonder what the D pairings in Springfield will look like.

I'd have to figure Ralph, Fischer, Burns, Koromyslov and Jiricek are all playing.

I don’t know much about Zubov’s time in the KHL but this hire seems good. He was certainly a smart player. And he was an advisor for the Bkues for a short time in 2013 so maybe he made some sort of big impact or impression on Stren back then? Steen was one of the main leaders on the team back then.

We lost Chiarelli a couple years ago(good riddance) and never really replaced him.

Zubov has spent several years in the KHL in various coaching capacities. It's been very difficult in recent years to get scouting eyes on talent in Russia. Having someone who likely has strong contacts in Russia helps the Blues keep tabs on prospects IMO.

Also, he played several years in Dallas when Army was there, so he trusts him.

Jiricek, Loof, Buchinger, Fischer, Burns, Rosen, Gaudet thats the 7 shown on their roster my assumption is Lindstein breaks camp. They arent showing Koromyslov yet.
Only Jiricek and Burns are RHs i think

maybe I'm imagining it, but I thought I read a little while back that it was speculated that Loof might be going back to Europe

Loof will be playing in Finland.

Burns is a lefty.

Far as actual NHL prospects, Jiricek is the only Righty in Springfield.
