Need a winning streak.

Post by sikeston bulldog2 »

Good morning.

We sit at 52-49, I believe. Off top of my head. We have had six 4 game losing streaks, one 6 game winner, and one five, I believe.

Yet we sit above .500 still. It’s been a slow decline last 50 games- 23-28 record.

So it’s time for a 8/10, 12/15 type run. This would put us in post season hunt, plus close the season down to 30 ish games, providing a drama filled September.

Just one stretch. And I believe we have the staff, the schedule, and facing call ups, in our favor.

Thoughts.

St. Louis Cardinals’ Six‑Game Winning Streaks in 2026
The St. Louis Cardinals did not have a single six‑game winning streak during the 2026 regular season. Their longest winning streaks were shorter, with the most notable being a five‑game stretch from April 5–8, 2026, and a four‑game stretch from April 10–12, 2026.

Key Streaks in 2026
April 5–8, 2026 (5 games):

Apr 5: Beat Detroit Tigers, 5–3 (5–4)

Apr 6: Lost to Washington Nationals, 6–9 (5–5)

Apr 7: Beat Nationals, 7–6 (6–5)

Apr 8: Beat Nationals, 6–1 (7–5)
This was the Cardinals’ longest winning run of the season Baseball-Reference.com.

April 10–12, 2026 (4 games):

Apr 10: Beat Boston Red Sox, 3–2 (8–5)

Apr 11: Lost to Red Sox, 1–7 (8–6)

Apr 12: Lost to Red Sox, 3–9 (8–7)

Apr 13: Beat Cleveland Guardians, 6–5 (9–8)
This four‑game winning streak was followed by two losses before a win on Apr 13 Baseball-Reference.com.

Other Notable Streaks
Mar 26–28, 2026 (3 games):

Mar 26: Beat Rays, 9–7 (1–0)

Mar 28: Beat Rays, 6–5 (2–0)

Mar 29: Lost to Rays, 7–11 (2–1)
Ended after two wins Baseball-Reference.com.

Apr 17–19, 2026 (3 games):

Apr 17: Beat Astros, 9–4 (11–8)

Apr 18: Beat Astros, 7–5 (12–8)

Apr 19: Beat Astros, 7–5 (13–8)
Ended after three straight wins Baseball-Reference.com.

Summary
The Cardinals’ 2026 season record was 52–49 (.515), and while they had multiple multi‑game winning streaks, no six‑game winning streak occurred. Their best run was the five‑game April 5–8 stretch Baseball-Reference.com+1.

Exactly. Sitting around .500 in the next 10 just isn't good enough to be any kind of buyer at the deadline. They are moderate sellers at the deadline right now.

5 with the Cubs. 3 with Cin. All at home....
Sorry I think it's 4-6 in the next 10

With the way they played in AZ and against LAAofA ... 4-6 over the next 10 seems generous. Offensively they are stagnant. Pitching-wise they are weak and shallow.

From my couch and as a lifetime Cards fan I don't see lots of current reasons for hope. It was a blast watching them overachieve in the first half. Would love to see them get back whatever they had way back then, but I certainly am not expecting a resurgence.

It might be that the best we can hope for is our sellable assets turning it around a bit so that we can pick up some promising prospects at the deadline. Right now that doesn't even seem certain.

But, as always, would love to be wrong and have the team get rolling again and shock many of us!

Have been thinking the same, Cards need a decent streak ASAP. Hope they can do it. If so, it could be set up like you suggest for the rest of the season. If not, well, it is what it is, which isn't bad.
Last year, even after things fell apart in the 2nd half, I'd keep saying on here the Cards are in good position moving forward. Even if the same fate happens this year in the 2nd half to the Cards, we can at least now see the potential progress.

In the spirit of competition. Reference rebuild, you are correct.
