Has Karraker lost touch with the St.louis sports scene?

Post by Kentucky kid »

Let's see after watching his show the other day, instead of blaming Marmol for the loses we are to congratulate Marmol for every cardinal victory. If I also understood correctly we are angry because we bet on cardinals to win and when they don't we blame Marmol. The question might be why would you bet on the cardinals to win a series?Has he lost touch with the St.louis fans?

I have not heard the RK comments you reference in your post. I'm also not sure what your point is. I do believe that there are several Cards fans that still think that the Cards 2026 MLB W/L record is a high priority for Bloom. He has stated on numerous occasions that the top priorities are to rebuild the minor league player development system and stock it with high ceiling prospects to build a successful organization for the long term. Is RK saying that Oli has extracted more from this roster than most expected? If so, he is probably right, to some degree. This team has a short lineup, a short rotation, and a short bullpen. We have seen flashes of greatness from all of those elements, but not enough to sustain a contending team.

First , maybe I was wrong when I thought people were actually watching and listening to the local St. Louis sports media .Secondly they try to tell you how you should think and that I don’t get.

That is a good observation. I don't think its limited to local sports folks. The national folks have been trying to tell fans how to think for years now. I blame the sponsors of these specific shows. It sure seems like Bernie M has become much more bossy of fans, since Draft Kings started sponsoring his show. It seems like Draft Kings demands that Bernie raise the volume and intensity of his message and draw lines in the sand to divide fans to either agree or disagree with him.

When you have been canned by so many jobs, I think it is only natural to want to be a nice person. Not everyone is Kevin Slaten.

Bernie's biggest problem isn't that he's wrong—every analyst is wrong. It's that he never seems to admit it. He'll flip-flop from one extreme to another depending on the news cycle, then act like anyone who disagrees is clueless. The shock-jock routine gets old. Instead of owning bad takes, he lectures his audience as if they're the ones who don't understand baseball. For someone who prides himself on accountability, he doesn't seem to hold himself to the same standard.

Sounds just like many of the posters who post here. I will name posters, but there are several.

That is a flat out wrong. I watch Bernie everyday and have followed him for years. He has admitted to being wrong many times. I understand you might not like the guy but it chaffs me when people turn their personal opinions into falsehoods.

I liked Randy when he was still on 101 espn, but i haven't listened to his show since he was let go a year or 2 ago. I'm not a big fan of the replacement show which is just Tim McKernan and Doug Vaugh rambling for 4 hours about nothing sports related

After giving it a shot I haven't listened to one minute of McKernan's stupid show for a long time, what a waste of air time.

Karraker has never been quite able to figure out the line between lapdog homer like Goold, hot-take artist like Miklasz, and generally understanding the pulse of the fans versus his own view. He's a great guy but he's long lived in no-mans land as a media personality.

As far as the actual topic goes, I am not a Marmol fan but Mozeliak and the FO never gave him a real roster. This is his first real shot and it's been fine so far.

I refuse to listen to them as well.

Just a horrible production and performance.
