I always enjoy your posts and tend to agree with your opinions when it comes to TV, film etc.
I can't share your take on the last season at all. I really, and mean really, liked this show early on. It was different, incredibly well acted and written, lots of great stories about an industry that is closet to my home for several reasons. Last season started the decline for me.
This season I just can't stand what I'm watching. I'm to the point where my wife and I discuss whether to continue. We are about two thirds of the way thru, the raspberry, foccacia, salami, the episodes named after food. Here's what I'm getting out of this season. It's raining. A lot. Like biblical rains. Everyone is bitter at Carmy that he's leaving. Marcus is angry at the Danish chef bc he's going back to Denmark and clearly is in love with him. Nobody really trusts Syd. The place is out of money. Oh, and it's raining.
And the worst is it all makes me anxious with the ten billion camera shots per episode. I've never got anxious watching TV unless i'm watching the blues lose in winnipeg in game 7.
I'm hate watching at this point and just want it to be done
TL/DR: don't like this season.

First off, thank you! I will say the same for your posts/opinions. Second - please never speak of the Winnipeg game 7 again. I will never get that disappointment and tragedy out of my mind...ever.

I would say finish it, take a step back, let it simmer for a day or two, then let us know what you thought. I think it was pretty great, and like I said will miss the show, the cast, the dialogue, theme, everything. BUT - I also realize it has its warts. Anyways, it will be interesting to see what this cast does next.

Finished last night. I will grant you that the second to last episode, the night everything went off at the Bear, from the overbooking, running out of food, the goofy customers hanging in the kitchen was better. Still gave me a migraine with all of the camera panning but it reminded me, at least somewhat, of what the show was capable of in seasons past.

The finale was fine. It was nice, everyone had a happy ending. I like happy endings (keep the jokes to yourselves), I like when things wrap up all pretty in a bow. I like feel good, and that's what it was. Carmy is Art Vandalay and he's back with Claire. Richie and the girl jet off to Japan. Ebreheim gets to open the pop up beef. The Bear gets two stars and Syd is a star and the restaurant appears to take off to the moon. Marcus and the Danish dude make up. Etc.

I will always wonder if this is a show that should have wrapped up with a happy go lucky finale. Doesn't necessarily fit the profile of the series all the way up to that episode. That's why I complain on message boards about TV and movies and am not a producer.

Overall I loved the first three seasons. Thought season 4 saw a dramatic decline. The first 7 episodes of the last season were beyond brutal IMO and then finally it ended on a good but not so fitting note. Best I got.
