UMR-alum-05 wrote: 18 Jul 2026 09:33 am I would definitely not rather have Jordan Kyrou than both Mason McTavish and Connor McMichael. That's a crazy take.
Before the Blues purposely handicapped Kyrou. He was our best offensive player and a all-star. He will likely put up 20 to 40 more points then any blue this year. And probably more then Mason and Mcmikey together.

Management fault is same thing one would need to look at when judging Mason. How much was his decline or non growth, was/is by managements hand. Which I think may be more then not.
I hope/think this season is better for him.
But how long that last might very well depend on how much management likes him. Because although the GM has changed names. Playing guys for their loyalty rather then their skill, is all the same.
This is the problem with loyalty over truth. You only see what your bias lets you see. By the agenda the boss sets.
No that isn't happening. He isn't outscoring Thomas period, much less scoring 110+, and the odds of him putting up 80+ points, which he has never done in his career, are about 40/60.

Your bias is about as dull and as boring as anything ever seen on this site at this point.
Attack. Attack. With a bull [shirt] and bad math.
Thomas has never scored 90+ points.
+20 on Thomas's point total of last year would be 84 points. Which is 9 more then Kyrous career high. He would need 91 points going on Thomas's Average. The Bais seems to be yours.

Not counting last year's stupidity of management to hold back Kyrou and purposely handicap the team. Playoffs be damned. Kyrou was averaging around 72 points.
In his prime with something to prove and with a Washington team that won't [fork] the team to prove a point to a player. 90+ is almost a given and a bet id make any day.

Also, Dull is the swing, bad math and the miss, you throw with a boring derp.
I'm not the one bad at math. If Thomas scores at his normal rate over the past 3 seasons, which is 1.07 ppg, that would give him 90 points on the season.

Based on your expectation, that would mean to outscore Thomas by just 20 points Kyrou would have to turn in a 110 point season.

You putting money down on a Kyrou 110 point season? He has averaged in the same time frame .76 ppg, which is a 66 point season. However, let's say new team, new system energizes him and he scores an additional 20 points this season, over his previous best season of 75 points, that still only puts him at 95, which would be well short of your 20 point mark, much less your 40 point mark.

You didn't think this through at all did you?

24. St. Louis Blues
Net Rating added: -7
In: Mason McTavish, Connor McMichael, Brandon Carlo
Out: Jordan Kyrou, Jonathan Drouin

St. Louis’ pro scouting staff deserves some benefit of the doubt after the double offer sheet coup. But I would still prefer Jordan Kyrou over Mason McTavish and Connor McMichael. Kyrou is a legit needle-mover; the other two currently look a lot closer to average. “Currently” is the key word there. It wouldn’t be a shock to see both improve within a new context. For now, though, the Blues do look worse off.

Been around long enough to know if they are praising this team it won't go well. This is good. :D

It seems obvious that the makeup of the team has morphed into a bulkier team. Whether this manifests into more points or not will only be determined by the fullness of time. We can just wait and see if their strategy works or not. At the least they are being proactive and only playing out the season will tell us if they are correct.

For the analytics crowd, Kyrou is a great player to have. But when you watch him in person, his play away from the puck is incredibly suspect. He went to the right team (Caps GM is a metrics geek.)

As for the "media" dorks - again, he's a very good player if you only place your judgment on his metrics. These "experts" have only watched Kyrou in highlight packages and via a televised game.

Blues have had an active offseason.

How do I know if its most improved?
Lets wait till after the season.
Seems like we got tougher and less perimeter.
McTavish--Is he a stud or a dud?
We shall see.

McMichael--is he just a guy or is he a good 2 way player==
Johnston--is he a bum? Is this a bad signing--seems like it--we shall see.
Sundqvist--is this a dumb signing? Seems like it--we shall see.
Carlo--Is he any good? We shall see.

Seems like we improved. I withhold judgment until we see the product on the ice.
I think trading Kyrou was wise--However--it may be painful to see him put up big numbers in Washington.

I expect Kyrou to have a really good season. He had some bad luck with not being able to finish scoring chances then his confidence got lost with weaker linemates. Combine that with his disappearing act in round 1 of the Jets series after a big hit. It was probably time but…….

Can’t just focus on McMichael to determine that trade. Do we make the MM trade without that #16?

I’m guessing that the Blues as is will still have problems with the speedier teams in the league but they’ll definitely be harder to play against and that might matter more in the end.

No more Schenn and the D-corps will be better from the start. Eyes on McTavish and Dvorsky. I expect Dvorsky to be level-up better, no clue what MM will bring.

I think in the near term people are foing to regret trading kyrou. Let's see how everything pans out and hooe our scouts are on it.
No chance I'll ever regret trading Kyrou, he wasn't going to do well here IMO no matter what he does anywhere else.

If I'd regret anything its that they wouldn't just let him be the player he is/was

LOL. Kyrou was a PPG All-Star in his first full season at age 23.

Agreed, won’t regret it, as his “eye test” lack of intensity annnoyed me. And to be honest, I hope he lights it up. Kid has loads of skill and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go 35g, 45 assists on that team.

I’m looking forward to seeing what MM and McT bring to the forward group and how Carlo helps stabilize/round out the defense.

I’m very interested to see Dvorsky this season. He should have a very defined role as 3C, hopefully with some consistent linemates. That should lead to some good matchups, along with some PP time for him. His skating still worries me a bit from a ceiling perspective, but I’m hoping he takes a step forward this year. 40-50 points would be a great season for him in my opinion.

I certainly think he has the potential still to be a win for the Blues and make it to 2C. Curious who his linemates are as well because given his lack of speed I think he needs wingers that are on the faster side to cover that. I don't think Neighbours would be a good fit with him.

Totally agree, but it will depend on who wins spots. He played well with Stenberg and Berggren, but they both seem to be in the mix battling for spots. Some may disagree with me, but if they want Dvo to be successful, I’d start with the lines below and then adjust based on chemistry. With such a short preseason, I expect a lot of juggling the first few weeks of the season.

Holloway-RT-Snuggs
Neighbours-McT-Buch
McMike-Dvo-Berggren
Toro-Suter-Johnston/Finley/Walker
