^This. It’s a little of both.Sudsy 11 wrote: ↑20 Apr 2026 23:29 pm Both things can be true at the same time. I don't like what Army said because the line clearly played well for a long stretch of time so why completely dismiss their accomplishments? At the same time, the Blues played many games in that period of time vs.oppenents backup goalies and were playing with little or no pressure on them. I just hope they don't trade Thomas. He's really the one that creates most of the offense when healthy.

I think they were solid and deserve to start the season together. The odd comment from Army that I heard was that they were going to “sit down with Thomas and Parayko and discuss the direction of the team”. I’m paraphrasing, but that implies both may or may not be in the long term plans. If here, play them together though.
And to the Dvorsky comment above, to me he looked best when centering a 3rd line of Stenberg and Berggren. He’s not ready for any type of 2C duty yet.

Thomas is PPG center
Snuggerud and Hollway havent peaked yet.
Appears to be a legit line imo.
Need to trade some guys on line 2. Change complexion of team. Get a big power forward imo.

It’s a long offseason but that line is great. Stupid to pretend it doesn’t count.

Gotta be easier to come up with a 2nd line than it is a 1st line. Now that they got the 1st line they should just leave it alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Tinker with the 2nd line. They need a Center for Buch and Kyrou. Im guessing they will both be here next season.

I feel like they will pick up where they left off. Should be legit.
Lets setup lines 2, 3 and 4 now.

Re: Real talk..Holloway/thomas/snuggy
I'm confused
I'm told on here the Blues only did well at the end of last year because they were out of the playoffs and other teams were out too so they didn't try
If the other teams didn't try, are the Blues the only team who continues to try and win even after being eliminated from the Playoffs? Rest of the NHL just quits?
The change in narrative confuses me

All they need to do is stay reasonably healthy, the rest will take care of itself.

That's just huge for the teams success no doubt. It's good to hound that.
As for lines, short of some guru like luck, Monty will likely need some 20 games to get it down.
i think most here agree he has a lot to work with....provided good health remains in play.

I do feel with having McM and McT the team has increased the number of dangerous and physical players.Having a team where Thomas and Holloway are not always the focus and feel like they have to do everything is going to be huge for their health. I like the depth and physicality of the top six.

Was that "odd comment" possibly out of context?TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2026 13:11 pm I think they were solid and deserve to start the season together. Maybe he was streaming many thoughts in his head and was thinking about conversations/decisions in management's minds re whom the next Team Captain should/might be and also discuss input or gain player(s) insight into line dynamics and fit into style (direction) of the team from the on-ice view...to make sure it all has the best chance of good and lasting success.
All of the various level leaders have to be pulling in the same direction. It's not a democracy, but a good one gets input from experienced on-the-frontline folks below.

I’m certain you’re correct. If I recall, my comment was a few weeks back. They’ve since seemed to indicate that Thomas and Parayko aren’t going anywhere….again, me reading between the lines of Army/Steen comments.Old_Goat wrote: ↑21 Jul 2026 07:53 amWas that "odd comment" possibly out of context?TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑21 Apr 2026 13:11 pm I think they were solid and deserve to start the season together. Roster looks fairly set to me with the main competition being 2RW if someone steps up to unseat Buch, 3RW, and the 4th line. Agree with you that once the battles settle and they start the season, they all need to be pulling in the right direction. Coaches included!!! Still a good veteran group here that can hopefully help in that with Thomas, Parayko, Fowler, Buch, Carlo and Johnston. On the latter, the book on him is that while a 4th line/pressbox guy, he’s a good teammate and a good voice in the locker room.

I need to get to the Eye Doctor!!! I saw the 21 in the date of post, immediately my mind's eye thought oh that's recent, today's the 21st of the month, I guess I must have missed something Armstrong said recently, wasn't even aware, but here's what I'm thinking now.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑21 Jul 2026 08:04 amI’m certain you’re correct. Good teams towards the end of the season, unless playing for home ice, will take games off against "cupcakes". Poor teams have their jobs to play for, so I'd say the line earned their goals, but sure, these weren't playoff games. The success should help their confidence, and as a young team, confidence is paramount. Let's hope it continues into next season.
