Deal is probably about right from both sides. Hard for the CraaapHawks to go longer or more money given the uncertainty with the injuries. For Bedard, you’re set for life now, even if the shoulders end his career prematurely. He hits free agency at a young age and if he’s able to stay healthy, could get a monster contract in 5 years.

Agreed. This is a great deal in light of what some folks were afraid would be runaway RFA salaries after the Carlsson offersheet. This should help reset that market.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 16:19 pm Deal is probably about right from both sides. I think id offer sheet Fantilli at 15 without hesitation.Army's Mom wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 15:41 pm
Edit to add: duh, he signed for 5x15M. Fair for both, IMO.
I think Fantilli is the more opportune target. They dont have enough cap for Greaves, Sillinger, and Fantilli - and, at least according to Eklund (lol), his price has gone way up since the Carlsson offersheet. If someone signed Fantilli at 15M, something would have to shake loose in CBJ.
Bedard, regardless of his health, isnt someone CHI will let go. And they'd have less cap gymnastics to fit an offersheet match IMO.

The Carlsson value is ridiculous not just the money but due to his actual career stats to date too. So yes huge overpay imo but with Bedard, a winger, and questions around his durability....and he has not set the world on fire as advertised, I think he maxed out here and did indeed get on the Carlsson runaway train himself.
No?

Re: Connor Bedard
5yr $75 ($15AVV) seems steep for a 70pt player. MacDavid who is averaging 120-130pts will be a bargain even at the max contract. They are paying for the player they hope he will become which is always a major risk.

Bedard is a winger? I thought he was a 1.09 PPG 21 y/o center?dhsux wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 17:29 pmI think you are right but not quite positive about that.Army's Mom wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 16:35 pmAgreed. Looks like Chicago's Bedard tankathon window begins now and ends after 5 seasons.

They might put him on the wing to give his shoulders a rest - they did the same thing last season. It doesn’t matter because the Hawks drafted like six different centers - they take the faceoff and then Conor assumes the position.

Re: Connor Bedard
I don't think Bedard is going to be that big of a star. He seems a lil fragile and injury prone. He's getting hurt even though no team in the league is taking them seriously. He's going to get killed if the Hawks have any kind of success.

Re: Connor Bedard
He clearly has the talent but his durability is an obvious question. If I was the Hawks I would have bit the bullet and tried to trade him. But that's a hard thing thing to try and do.

Re: Connor Bedard
His first 3 seasons were about 10pts per year lower than Kane. Bedard just signed the third highest contract in the league and is the 35th highest scoring player. He will have unbelievable pressure this year to make a step change in his 4th year.BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 21:29 pmHis stats are right there with Patrick Kane and that’s good for me if he can keep delivering the same…the role players are ready to step up finally because as of today his line mates have been terrible.

Look at the players they were lined up with….no comparison. Chicago threw Foligno, Kurashev, Perry, Hart, and Burakovsky on his lines - this season he will have Frondell, Kantserov, Nazar, Lardis, etc.rezero wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 21:35 pmHis first 3 seasons were about 10pts per year lower than Kane. Re: Connor Bedard
This does make more sense for the player who was described as the best prospect other than McDavid, Crosby, and Gretzky. I wonder how he'd do with Marian Hossa lined up next to him?BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑18 Jul 2026 21:54 pmLook at the players they were lined up with….no comparison. Re: Connor Bedard
I guess I'm struggling to understand how he's worth 15 per year. Theres probably 50 players or more in the league I'd rather have on my team. Also the cap only went up 10% not 100%. I would have thought 12 tops.

Do you think the same about Carlson and Kaprisov?Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑19 Jul 2026 08:11 am I guess I'm struggling to understand how he's worth 15 per year.
