This season should dictate his value....I don't know if I would feel comfortable committing now to one notion or the other.
He's shown flashes of 30-goal hands, but I agree it's an issue of consistency for him. I think his floor is a good third liner who can play up and down a lineup, add a physical element, and someone you'll be glad to have in a playoff series.

I'm just not sure we need to pay 6 or 7M for another LW when we have SO MANY of them.

We’re not getting Snuggy for anything less than 10. We should in no way give JN 7. He’s a good player, heart and soul guy, but that contract is a big overpay.
We all hope Snuggy has the production to earn that, but that’s no given yet. Everyone here moaned when the Blues locked up Thomas and Kyrou after a short time now you want to turn around and hand it to Snuggy?
Nobody was moaning when Thomas signed. It was Kyrou that was the issue. And the view that Thomas was a proactive bargain has been more than vindicated, I'd say.

Do the same with Snuggy. Dude has 55 points in his first 77 games, playing on a team that struggled to score. He's also 6'2", so he has the size to take a hit - and we've seen him engage physically at both ends already. If you can get him locked up for under 11M, that's a win in my book. He should be a PPG winger for the majority of his next contract, one without many obvious flaws.
You weren’t paying attention then. Plenty of people moaned about Thomas too. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing to do, but the team still has control for a while, let’s see how things play out for a second.

Logan Mailloux is signed to a one-year, $850,000 contract extension with the St. Louis Blues that carries an $850,000 average annual value (AAV) and expires at the end of the 2026-27 season. He will be a restricted free agent (RFA) in 2027.

me thinks this will be the very next contract probably a bridge deal around 2-3 years 3 mil
Mailloux will get 5-6 on a bridge. Maybe more. Top 4 guys aren't taking less.
He's played 20ish good games in the NHL. I saw Kessel and Tucker play good for stretches of games as well and they're not top 4 D. We definitely should be taking a wait and see approach with Mailloux. Maybe the lightbulb went off and it's all up from here which will be a huge win for us. Maybe it's more up and down before he settles down to being a top 4. Then again maybe we just saw the best 20 game stretch he'll every play in the NHL and it's more like the beginning of the season.
I don't disagree with the patient approach. I was just commenting that we're not getting him to sign for 3M as it stands today.

I definitely remember thinking Kessel would be a top 4 by now. That's some awful tasting crow!

I really hope Snuggerud is pushing for points lead on the Blues and forcing 7x10. Reality to me is Logan Cooley as a comparable minus being a #1C.

Neighbors 8 x 6.35 million
Snuggerud 8 x 9.25 million

It was. I think we are both predicting strong years from Neighbours and Snuggerud. I kind of feel if Neighbors looks like he will drop his ppg they may trade high on him rather than sign him. Feels like Neighbors has to have a good year.

I think neighbors playing with schenn and buch as centers was why his numbers dropped only the first line was scoring towards the end. I do think neighbors will come back swinging if he doesnt then nkishin would be ok. We just need stenberg and carbboneau to make huge strides then we can absorb neighbors loss

There's zero chance Neighbours is getting 8x7. I mean come on.

Here's where will be this time next year pending trades. Round numbers.

Thomas 8
Buch 8
Holloway 7.75
Snuggy RFA
McTavish 7
McMichael 6.75
Neighbours RFA
Berggren RFA
Dvorsky 1
Torpchenko 2.5
Johnston 2
Finley 1
Walker 1
Stenberg 1

Forwards 45MM with 3 RFAs

Broberg 8
Parayko 6.5
Fowler 6
Mailloux RFA
Lindstein 1
Jiricek 1
Tucker 1

Defense 23.5MM with an RFA

Hofer RFA

So the Blues will be at roughly 68.5MM. With Neighbours, Snuggerud, Berggren, Hofer, Mailloux to sign as RFAs plus a backup goalie.

Snuggurud 8x10
Neighbours 5x5 (if they even keep Neighbours)
Berggren 1x3 (if they even keep Berggren)
Mailloux 7x7 (I see them going long term to keep Mailloux why wouldnt they)
Hofer 7x7 (same with Hofer)
Backup goalie 2x4

That would be 36MM.

That's 104.5MM total on a 113MM cap. They're in great shape here people. If Stenberg shows out they can trade out Neighbours for something. Carbonneau should be ready to crack the lineup somewhere. They're in great shape.

The team and certain individual players were pretty messed up until after the break. At one point Jake was looking good but also looking like a man at times trying to carry his linemates and that's not his game. Then he got hurt. I expect him to return to form, no reason he won't.

That seems very likely. Except I believe the years can only max out at 7.

Number wise, Neighbours is just under McMichael's and Neighbour's has hit over 20 goals twice to McM's once. So yeah, Neighbour's contract will be close to McM's in my opinion.

I also think Hofer is going to be around $8M-$9M. Goalies are at a premium.

i thnk he will get 6mil he is currently 3,400,000 and he needs to show he is number 1

The average NHL goalie salary or cap hit is approximately $4.5 million per season. This figure represents the midpoint between entry-level deals (starting at a minimum of $775,000) and league superstars.. I thnk he will get 4 x 6mil

You are right. Not sure why I was thinking 8. I had to look that up. It is 7 or 6 on an offer sheet.

Hofer is the one that worries me. We can't replace him and trending like he is he is worth all of $8M-$9M.

Edit: Hit a couple of AI tools to project Joel Hofer's next contract. They seem to consensus a 3- to 5-year deal $5.0M to $6.0M (AAV). That feels low to me. I might be too much of a fan there.

I'll put it this way...if he plays as he did after the break you're not gonna get him signed for 3 mil and the Blues would not even start at that level.

If he picks up where he left off, which is an if but more than logical, he will want to be paid.

And to the earlier point, he will be an rfa next year so a "wait and see" strategy beyond this year could well lead to wait and see him walk out the door on a offer sheet.

Yeah, that's too low for Hofer. Of the recent goalies that were signed around the same age as Hofer:

Dustin Wolf - 7 x $7.5M
Filip Gustavsson - 5 x $6.8M
Ilya Sorokin - 8 x $8.25M
Spencer Knight - 3 x $5.533333M

And with the cap going up. I see Hofer around $8M and possibly $9M if he has a good season and because of lack of goalies in general.

I agree on Jake. I like him but we have 3 plus LW and if he wants McMichael money has to step up this year.

Snuggs I want to sign now to a Thomas deal 5x8. He won't take it, but Thomas is our best player and that should be a starting point, it seems the blues want to keep everyone under him.

Hoefer 5x7 is a very good deal.

Mailloux we can do a bridge deal.
