Lol….Anaheim is going to be the next EDM with two giant contracts and nothing else and they will never win anything. And that was with McDavid giving them a two-year discount.

They screwed this up so bad with that Carlsson negotiation. I’d trade them both!!!

How many teams have 18M in cap space and want to take on a much overpaid centerman…..
Verbeek is an idiot. I just wonder how much of this fiasco is his fault or was he just doing what the owner wanted him to do with negotiations.

One less team in the west to worry about. They'll be so (bleep) top heavy.

I respect a player making all the money he or she can because careers in pro sports are so (bleep) short. But IF this is true and CG really says he won’t take less than 18m he is telling the Ducks that a winning, well rounded team isn’t the priority right?

Again, not judging him either. Hey make your money. But he and LC have to realize they’re completely hamstringing the whole team don’t they?

This is predicated on this podcast info being true.

I know what you are saying figuratively but I cannot accept it literally.

Gauthier is being immature and to put it bluntly a di111ck.

If you have players like these two around you on a team AND you want to win something in your life besides all the friggn money (you are now bringing in).....you are effed.

I can only hope neither one of these players would have been one of my faves if I was a Duck fan.

Otherwise I would consider myself a not very good judgement of character.

You guys think this will only happen to Anaheim players? Be prepared for the Blues to be in a similar predicament along with most others.

This is totally nonsurpising. Gauthier was so (upset) that philly could not sign him after his freshman year at bu causing him to burn a year financially he refused to deal with them and demanded a trade. Karma comes back to bite verbeek and company.

Respectfully, all Carrlson did was sign an offer sheet. Gauthier, though, is demanding to be the highest paid on his team without that leverage, and without playing a premium position.

Gauthier is acting more selfishly than most hockey players. I get that its the new thing now (at least among Team USA), but I wonder how universal it really is. Are Canadian and Swedish kids this self absorbed?

Gauthier doesn’t have that kind of leverage. He’s not eligible for an offer sheet or for arbitration. All he can do is hold out.

He's already used that little leverage (threat of holding out) to force the trade from PHI. He's clearly not shy about making demands...

True. You and I are talking different things here. I keep reading about how badly Verbeek screwed up, which is true, but Philly laid the groundwork for these offer sheets to go crazy. I’m talking about crazy offers becoming the new norm, and not Gauthier himself. But yeah , he seems like a jagoff for sure…

Yup. And how many times does he think it's actually going to work. Anaheim might just call his bluff and let him sit out a season.

I’d love to see that quite honestly.
