Stanley Cup Odds

I know this is all complete nonsense but man…I disagree with so much of this. Panthers, Oilers, Caps are all way too high for instance. Sabres and Bruins too low.

Just my opinion.

The Panthers are too high? Id say they are pretty much the favorite heading into the season….they definitely are for me. The Capitals are gonna better and they will get a full year of Hutson on the blueline. The Oilers I would agree with you though.
Once Buffalo adds Hellebuyck they will be a player, Tuch is a loss for them but they have some good young player ready to take that next step.

I bet the Blues to win on Draft Kings 10 days ago....they had the best odds.
I bet $50 on them to make the playoffs (they were +260)
I put $10 on them to win the Cup....I couldn't pass it up. I realize that there is no way that they make it...but Draft Kings has them at +25,000.
a $10 bet will pay out $2500.

(someone else can put up $100 to win the full 25K...but it won't be me.)

These look very reasonable to me. I expect the Blues to be picking top 10 again and these odds look like they reflect that.

As far as the Panthers, they have the team. Some guys are getting long in the tooth though, so it all depends on their health (like most teams), but if they are healthy heading into the playoffs, look out!!

Gudas is a 118 years old now (and that’s been a hard 118 years). Hathaway is lesser version of Green. Both Tkachuks are coming off injury-riddled seasons. Barkov hasn’t played in over a year. Marchand was hurt a ton last year. Markstrom wasn’t good last year.

I’m not sure they’re the powerhouse everyone else thinks they are. Are they a playoff team? I think so. Are they the odds on favorite to win the cup? No. I’d take Carolina and Colorado over them easy. I think there is a case to be made for TB, Dallas, and MN to be better than Florida this year too.

How are the Columbus Bluejackets better than the Blues team?

I thought he looked good playing for Finland and he’s their most important player.

I am going to put 1k on them to win the cup and hedge on each opponent they face in the playoffs.

lol..they are the odds on favorite to win the cup according to the link you posted. Injuries can happen to any team. I like Florida to rebound in a big way. Their window is still open for a few more years.

Not saying their window is closed. I just don’t see them as the odds on favorite.

And as mentioned, there is a lot about these odds that I find comical. But, that’s why I said it was all nonsense…interesting nonsense but still nonsense

Colorado is done. They are the 3rd oldest team in the NHL and basically just exchanged 49 point Nichushkin for 26 point, 34 year old Jaden Schwartz and gave him a 3 yr deal. They have no defense, and Mac will be 31 before the playoffs.

To say the Avs have NO defense is absurd. They have arguably the top defensive pair in the game in Makar & Toews and Manson and Kulak are a competitive 2nd pairing. And I like Malenski on the 3rd pair- very underrated.
It would be similar to saying the Blues had no defense when they had MacInnis & Pronger. And basically the drop off from those two was alarming.
That's why they were split up so that one of them could be on the ice for most of the game, basically playing 30 minutes each.

I can't see much to disagree with on the odds.

If I had to list the standings come the end of the year. It would almost be identical.

Maybe I give Washington better odds. I think they have had the best off-season of the league. Adding Tuch. Jenner. Kyrou, and the 6'7 Desharnies.
If Ovi, can still hit and score. They are a good bet.

What? You mean to tell me that the experts were not impressed with the McTavish add? We paid so much for him!!!

What are the updated odds that the Blues "STAY COMPETITIVE AND FILL THE CASH REGISTER FOR THE OWNERS"? What are the odds that we see a dud Oct-Jan and killer Feb-Mar? I bet those odds went way way up for the Blues on those 2 counts.
