Makes sense for us, but probably not for them. Their “rumored” ask was either Neighbours or Dvorsky in a package. Guessing another team that is trying to build would have more to offer.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026 04:31 am Bringing in JK with Nikisin doesnt make sense. Suter, Linstein, and a 2nd makes some sense.

Interesting stats on Alex Nikishin:
15.3% of shifts started in the OZ
7.2% of shifts started in the DZ
21.5% of his TOI came against “elite” competition per PuckIQ
Played a fairly sheltered role this past season. Carolina not thinking he’s worth ~$8M is a huge red flag to me

It was also his first year in the NHL.

The only players you forum fools value are worthless goons like Ross Johnston or defensively bankrupt players like McTavish.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026 08:42 am Interesting stats on Alex Nikishin:

There aren't ever any "red flags" with them.

I love the thought of Nikishin
Broberg /Mailloux
Nikishin/ CP55
Cam /carlo
Tucker
Let Lindstein play one or part of the year in the AHL....
Just not sure what they need.
Neighbors would be a very tough pill to trade but if carbs is as advertised I might consider it.

Both of those players cost substantially less than Nikishin is asking, as well as in acquisition. McT has flaws, but we just hired his ex coach, and Johnston have time in the league compared to Nikishin's one season on the best team in the league who indicate they don't need him.son_of_foolsgold wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026 09:06 amThe only players you forum fools value are worthless goons like Ross Johnston or defensively bankrupt players like McTavish.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026 08:42 am Interesting stats on Alex Nikishin:

I’m very pro-Jake Neighbors. I think he’s a warrior and played through injuries all throughout last year. When the team got hot after the 4-Nations break, Jake was a major contributor w/21 Points +9 w/16:36 ATOI in 26 Games, followed up w/6 points in 7 Playoff Games against the Jets.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 05:08 am I love the thought of Nikishin

However, I think the expectations were that he’d ascend to Second Line or the Top-Half of a Mid-6, and it looked like he might when he had a stretch at the beginning of the year where he collected 7 points in 8 October Games. However, his November (2 points 6 Games -2) was forgettable, then he had to major vanishing acts that included a 3-week span between Dec 22-Jan 9 (0 points -6 w/ATOI 16:16 over 8 Games) and a worse 15 Game stretch between Feb 4-March 26 (1 Point -2, 14:02 ATOI).
Jake would finish strong w/10 points +4 w/ATOI 15:56 in 11 Games. So, I chalk up that horrendous 2-month spell to playing injured. Now, the problem is his dip last year and Blues Offseason moves appear to have pushed him to the 3rd Line, behind McMichael. If McMichael signs a longer term deal, where does that leave Jake?
Feels like 3rd Line with lots of young, up-and-coming forwards putting the squeeze on him.

This is why the trade hasn't happened most likely. They want one of those two in the deal and we won't deal them. This will not change most likely. Blues love Neighbors and Dvorsky has too much potential to trade. I could see the Suter, Lindstien and a 1st (not a 2nd-I wish) deal being out there for him, but Carolina is going to hold out for a better offer if one comes up at that price.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑07 Jul 2026 08:22 amMakes sense for us, but probably not for them. With McT signed long term I wonder if they dont see Devo as a center long term.
I would honestly trade Devo b4 Neighbors.

There's zero chance I would trade Dvorsky before Neighbours.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 08:52 am With McT signed long term I wonder if they dont see Devo as a center long term.

Dvorsky has at least one plus skill...his shot. Jake does not.

Re: Blues rumored pursuing Nikishin
Is Jake Neighbours a little underrated amongst Blues fans? Hes currently 9th in his draft class in goals scored and thats with a bit of a down year last year. And hes 9th with only 280 NHL games played, a lot less than anyone ahead of him (Holloway is 14th).BleedingBleu wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 05:36 amI’m very pro-Jake Neighbors. Id frankly be (upset) if Steen traded JN for a LHD its talking out of both sides of their mouth and would be the first major hiccup for Steen. Everyone knows the Blues havent been nearly hard enough to play against, Jake is one of the few guys with a spine at forward. They are preaching building around a young core, Jake is a leader in this group. I also feel like Neighbours is a great winger for McTavish and thats likely what we will see. Im a hard pass, let Lindstein play and see whats what. We have Broberg whos a #1 and Fowler who is also very good. Its also likely that a LD prospect will also emerge.

I don't believe Jake Neighbours is underrated, I think his ceiling is clearer (more established) than some other young players and prospects. He's a physical energy garbage goal guy (for the most part) who can skate. He is not a notable playmaker and he's a winger not a center (separates him from a Barbashev who adds that versatility).

Personally i think Jakes ceiling is higher than Barbies, Barbie avgs 18 goals per 82 NHL games Jake has a smaller sample size but Jake avgs 21 goals per 82 NHL games, he hits more, can PK, PP as well. Barbie is a C of course but Barbie left he doesnt really matter much to me. Losing Jake would be a big mistake esp with the loss of Kyrou.DawgDad wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 09:48 am I don't believe Jake Neighbours is underrated, I think his ceiling is clearer (more established) than some other young players and prospects. We may have another gem in Stenberg but he needs to show something more this year, needs to be in the 15 goal ish range for his age. We will see until then the Blues are still a little thin at wing for me.

Neighbours does not hit more than Barbashev. Edit: you're right but it's very close. I didn't think this was true but Neighbours does slightly out hit Barby.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑10 Jul 2026 09:57 amPersonally i think Jakes ceiling is higher than Barbies, Barbie avgs 18 goals per 82 NHL games Jake has a smaller sample size but Jake avgs 21 goals per 82 NHL games, he hits more, can PK, PP as well.
