When a player is good like Celebrini, you don't see the team desperately drafting/acquiring talent at that position. The team already has a solution.
The Blues haven't drafted anywhere near high in the NHL draft FOR ALMOST 20 YEARS! I have certainly "adjusted my expectations" accordingly. We have no HOFers. We have no elite talent that gives us a competitive edge. Everyone is on the trading block. No position is a lock. Is that "adjusted" enough for your tastes?

The sharks drafted Misa, a center, the year after they drafted Celebrini. What on earth are you talking about?a smell of green grass wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 13:58 pmWhen a player is good like Celebrini, you don't see the team desperately drafting/acquiring talent at that position. Also, we just got a coveted Top 5 pick, and all it cost us was two lower firsts.

They drafted Misa for the 2C, not the 1C.The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 14:22 pmThe sharks drafted Misa, a center, the year after they drafted Celebrini. Now the Sharks have great depth at the Center position--elite level talent all-around.
Meanwhile, the Blues have someone from the Sharks discard pile, a guy that was a healthy scratch late in the season, and Thomas (Aka the Blues best players are being outplayed by the other team's best players when the games count). And they also have Dvorsky, so we can wait, wait, wait for some sort of average talent to finally arrive.

I like that he is a different type of center than Thomas. Goes to the net, shoots more. It'll be interesting to see who he gels with. There are some options.

Gibberish. You said when a team drafts someone like Celebrini you don’t see them acquiring talent for that position anymore. It’s yet another example of you not having any idea about how or why hockey teams are built. I’d be very surprised if you spent any time watching or thinking about this sport beyond the One Thing you post over and over again on this website.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 14:48 pmThey drafted Misa for the 2C, not the 1C.The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 14:22 pmThe sharks drafted Misa, a center, the year after they drafted Celebrini. Smelly's posts certainly seem to vary as the times change. Says one thing and then says something in direct conflict of his previous statements. The only thing he has been consistent with is his total and complete nutty takes on Army. I will give him kudos for at least sticking with those misguided and crazy takes! He will not deviate from those. But other wise, the guy is like clothes drying on a line in a stiff breeze. Just moving from stance to stance with his silly takes after silly takes. Unfortunately, he has company in the form of a certain poster with the word "fool"in his handle. The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 15:03 pmGibberish. Yeah, Misa was drafted as the 2C, because he was taken 2nd Overall, stupid! The Average Gatsby wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 14:22 pmThe sharks drafted Misa, a center, the year after they drafted Celebrini. Technically, Celebrini was drafted as their 2C, behind Will Smith. So, Michael Misa is really a 3C

Well let's hope so. We've needed a second line center for years.
And since we traded for him he will get a opportunity others won't see. he'll get every chance to put up points.
Blues are real good at selling hope, and stl fans are buyers.

Count me as skeptical...but I hope I'm wrong. We sure paid a steep price to get him.

I was a little bummed by the draft picks given up, but I like to see the team make a high risk-high reward move like acquiring McTavish. It could end up being a steal on par with the Broberg/Holloway offer sheets.

Are you on drugs? Comparing a generational talent to Dvorsky means you need help.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 11:36 amDid the Sharks with Celebrini go looking to bring in a veteran to play 1C? Nope. No way. They didn't even consider it. There was no need.bluetunehead wrote: ↑09 Jul 2026 11:32 am Courtesy reminder that Dvorsky just turned 21 years old and as such is not underperforming in any sense.
By bringing in McTavish (and several other highly-drafted Centers), Blues Management is telling us very clearly that Dvorsky is VERY LIKELY not a 2C. Not next year. Not ever. Face the truth.
