That is correct..he gets $19.95mil as soon as the decision comes downs and gets another $18.1 mil next July 1st. First two years is $39.8 mil in total salary for him

In a special edition of 32 Thoughts, Elliotte Friedman talked to the agents for Leo Carlsson. The Father and son team of Matt and Ryan Keator said that Verbeek had made an initial contract offer last summer to Carlsson for 8 years and a AAV $10.5 million. It was the Keator's who stepped in and turned the offer down because they felt the changing economics in the NHL would evntually lead to a bigger contract for Leo. The agents admit that at the end of the season Anaheim was aggressively trying to get a deal done with Carlsson but for a second time the agents were not allowing the process to advance. The agents were waiting on a Connor Bedard contract to get finalized before allowing Carlsson to sign. The intent was to get a deal comparable to what Bedard's new deal would be. Very good insight into the process and how this all happened. Most people were blaming Verbeek as the issue here but the truth is the agents were the ones that were pushing off finalizing a deal.

Did I miss something or was there no mention of the conversations that was alleged to have happened between the Carlsson camp and the Ducks where the Carlsson camp said they would sign for 15 million before signing the OS?
