Stenberg and Suter for Wright.

Lindstein and a 2027 3rd next year for Nikishin and Kotkaniemi.

Have to include Suter in that Wright deal to clear enough cap to take on Kotkaniemi.

Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
McMichael McTavish Buch
Neighbours Dvorsky Wright
Johnston Kotkaniemi Torpchenko

Berggren, Finley

Broberg Mailloux
Nikishin Parayko
Fowler Carlo
Tucker

Hofer
Binnington

That fits within the cap. Barely.
It’s honestly a good looking lineup. I do like Stenberg, but everyone seems to be throwing him in every trade the second his brother went #2 Overall to the Sharks.

The organization is deep at LHF & LHD and should injuries unfold, they could dig into those recesses to bring up a Dube, a Kaskimaki, maybe a Pekarcik or an Arseni Koromyslov?
I like that lineup a lot. That fourth line could look different some nights. Could play it Kotkaniemi-Finley-Berggren to try and get a little more offense out of it if Johnston wasn't needed against a certain opponent.

Stenberg will be a nice player and I don't want to move him but he's one of the most viable trade chips we have to get something we need. Fact is we need Wright a lot more than we need Stenberg right now and you've got to give to get.

As you note, any of Dube, Kaskimaki, possibly even Dean can come up and give us some minutes. Pekarcik as well. They have LW depth. Plenty of it.
Any plan that relies on Dean to play NHL minutes is doomed.

Maybe the Blues have to add a little something to that like a Burns or a Tucker. Seattle would be able to plug Stenberg right into their lineup by simply playing Catton at C where Wright was and put Stenberg there at LW.

Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
McMichael McTavish Buch

Thats a deep lineup and they also buy themselves development time for Carbs to where they don't have to force him into the lineup anytime soon. He would have to force Buch either down the lineup or out of the lineup when he's actually ready.
Is there a reason we are trading Stenberg for Wright other than Wright is RH?

I think we have seen the trades and this is the team. There obviously may be some moves to clear a spot or move a bottom of lineup player or two or reshape 4th line.
In my opinion this (SHANE WRIGHT or NIKISHIN OR KOTA) isnt realistic and will not happen.

Agree on having to look through his history to find that he did score 20 goals before at lower levels. I don't know enough about Wright to decide for myself, but his .36ppg compared to Stenberg's .31ppg this past season demands a more compelling argument than "he once scored goals."

I see Stenberg as a 2nd line guy who I wouldn't trade away for McMichael. Here you have Wright playing 3RW and trading a rising prospect projected as a middle-6 player, and I just don't think I'm into it without more details about Wright's game. All I know so far is that he's a failing centerman whose team is moving him out over the 23 y/o guy they took just before him who only scored 50 points, and the 32 y/o 49pt guy who they signed long term. For reference, Brayden Schenn scored the same amount as Shane Wright did last season, just with the Blues. I mean golly, they only skated him 11:55min 5v5 a night?

And all this when we have Snuggerud and Carbonneau (who Army stated he was bullish on). I need to know that this guy A) isn't Kyrou, and B) isn't Kotkaniemi. If, as was mentioned earlier, he just needs a change of scenery (which happens), then I'll trust Blues brass when the make the deal. Otherwise, as things stand, I'm not getting excited about trading Stenberg for 3RW Wright.

I'd really just prefer to find A veteran RW with a year or 2 left and be done I think.

I'd have interest in Wright for the right price though.

Obviously none of us can predict the future but Stenberg has never put up goals at any professional level yet. Not the SHL, not the AHL, not the NHL. Small NHL sample size but still. What are you pointing to that makes you Stenberg is a second liner? I don't see that at all.

Wright scored 19 goals in the NHL already.

Carbonneau is a couple seasons away from any major contributions. By the times ready for a scoring line role you can move Buch down the lineup to make space.

I look at Stenberg's overall game rather than strictly goal scoring, and he's impressed every time I've watched him. He may never stick on an NHL 2nd line, but I would be very surprised if he isn't a very solid 3rd line player.

"Obviously none of us can predict the future but" "Carbonneau is a couple seasons away" <---Army's prediction is bullish

I think it would be unwise to further block our prospects. Wright is up for a contract next season, and if he indeed puts up his first 20 goal NHL season, he's going to ask for a nice contract.

So if you're only going off of his goal scoring, do you know anything else about his game? Is he "hard to play against" as Army and Steen are looking for?

He's not a physical player. He's a good defensive player, a good pass, and a good shot. Would be the RH shot on power play 2. Likely wouldn't be involved in the penalty kill. Not a good faceoff guy. Good playmaker. Would be good with Dvorsky at C.

I'm bullish on Carbonneau man but he's 19. We need a player now not in 2-3 years.

A year ago I wanted to trade Kyrou for him, but at this point I think I'd rather (like someone else mentioned) go for a stop-gap RW than force a developing center to the wing. You mentioned Tippett before, and someone else mentioned him earlier in another thread. I thought maybe the McTavish-Zegras connection (all this pending Carlsson of course). Forgot about PIT as well. I'd maybe revisit this Stenberg-Wright trade idea if we moved Dvorsky for something big.

Tippet has 5 years on his contract. You're going to have to give up a Kyrou like return to get Tippett. Maybe not quite as good but close.

Tippet would potentially be available if Anaheim doesn't match the Carlson offer sheet. Philly will have potential cap trouble and they have plenty of right handed shots and right wings. They would want a left wing in a Tippet trade I presume.

You'd have to do Neighbours (Or Stenberg), next year's first, and something else for Tippet. Maybe say Korotky. Trying to make a similar trade to the Kyrou trade.

Id consider it based on who I thought would be the better overall player. Wright is three years farther along in his development and better fits the current 5 year window.

I personally don't see Carbonneau being a fit on a line with Dvorsky as they are both shooters. Maybe with a pass-first player on the wing that works. I like Wright a lot better with Dvorsky.

I guess end of the day I probably wouldn't want to lose the right shot of Carbonneau even to gain Wright I'd be trying to make it happen almost any other way.

I actually see it as if they land #1C Carlsson, it makes 2C unsigned RFA Zegras available. Tippett is under a nice contract, and with that $18M albatross, they need all of those they can get and I don't suspect Zegras signs for cheap after his season and them signing Carlsson like that.

I think Carbo will be a player that Blues fans are happy to have on their team for years to come. There’s not many players that standout in warmups compared to the rest of the team.
