Blues rumored pursuing Nikishin

What's wrong with Kotkaneimi? His stats aren't great but they got guys like that on the Blues. Why's this guy an outcast that nobody wants?

He's a decent bottom 6 player. Can be a LW or C in your bottom 6. He's just overpaid. Decent faceoff guy. Some size. Some physicality. 30 points. He's not a bad player. But he's got four years of term left at almost 5MM AAV.

I could see making that trade if Kotkaniemi isn’t involved. I’d rather give Stenberg a shot on the 3rd line if Neighbors is traded than pay Kotkaniemi.

I don’t think the Blues will trade Neighbors though. Andy Strickland recently said the Blues plan to play all of next season without naming a captain. I think the team is doing this because they want to name Neighbors the next captain, but they want him signed long term before they do so.

I don't think that.

But I don't think Neighbours has much of a chance to be next captain either. Some people like to entertain this idea. Neighbours in my view simply isn't a good enough overall player to be the captain.

I feel the same way, but have never watched him play other than some highlights. It the Blues think he's a guy we need on D for our core group, then great, but I find it hard to make proposals like Neighbours+ based on what I know. Would appreciate those with more knowledge, especially those clamoring for Nikishin, to provide input.

Nikishin had 33 points and was +18 and is only 24. Not too shabby, and if all they want is a 3rd liner and a first, I do that all day.

Next years draft is a lot better than this years. They can have Lindstein or Parayko or Fowler but I would under no circumstances trade that 1st unless it’s top 10 protected

They want to add size on their backend and Nikishin provides that along with a good skill set. He solidifies your top 4 for years to come.
I’d be shocked if Neighbours is a guy that Carolina has any real interest in.

If we're going to acquire him it should be for Lindstein, Ralph, Fischers and a 4th round pick.

I’m sure the draft is better, but that guy is a year from getting drafted, then 3-4 years after that away from making an impact here, by which time Thomas will be starting to age out. I’d rather have the guy that fits in with the current group.

If the Blues can fit both in their salary structure..you do it without hesitation. Parayko and Binnington can both go if necessary. Both are long gone by the time we are a cup contender anyway.

He has to represent a clear upgrade to what we have. Then he's going to want a big contract. They have Fowler already on a big contract.

The organization has already announced Parayko is not being traded. The fact that you continue to run around from thread to thread talking about him being traded is bizarre. For all we know the player is refusing to be traded which is his contractual right.
