Well, Vegas will be clearing 18 million from their books this year. Arbitration is a one year contract getting him to UFA next season. Florida can't make that happen, maybe Tampa? Vegas will definitely be interested. He better show out this season. Teams will see how he deals with real pressure.

Doesn't/hasn't he claimed he would prefer to stay in Dallas?

They might reach an agreement.

Vegas is going to be so (bleep) top heavy and they won't be young. Plus they won't have Stone or Karlsson anymore if they add Robertson.

I think it sounds a lot better than what it actually will be if you look at the roster.

Eichel, Marner, Robertson. Beyond that who knows what it looks like.

This makes it more likely he stays in Dallas if he really wants to IMO. He’ll get his 1-year arb deal (they’ll make it work somehow) and he can then sign a major extension with Dallas in a few months to start a year from now. Seguin will be off the books then and the cap will go up another 9M as well. They’ll have plenty of room.

I agree but he is definitely winning the money negotiation

With the [shirt] contracts greer gave out and took on, San Jose will have to pay their top talent and will be another Edmonton. Superstars on 1 and a 1/2 lines, no depth.

Sharks have a lot of cap that is tied up with older players the next four years.

9+ for Nurse.
8+ for Trouba
7 for Marchment
6 for Sherwood

That's a quarter of their cap roughly for the next four years.

That Trouba contract was especially gross.

Tells me they are very smart and understand the reality that you have to get better to get better. Gotta get your club on the desired destination list.

I don't think they have any delusions that these are they guys they want but these are the guys they can get to get them back in the game now. In 4 years they will be one of the teams players keep asking to be traded to and it will be because they did what they had to do.

Agree to disagree here. These are not good contracts. They will limit the team at a certain point.

No but I took your post as saying that they were smart incremental improvements. They may be that for a year or two but I think they eventually are trouble as the players age

That is exactly what I'm saying and exactly what will happen IMO. They will have better options next year because they got better this year.

And I'm saying I respectfully disagree. These contracts will hamstring the Sharks in a couple years as they start to sign their NHL youth. The sharks may be ready to challenge for a cup in a couple years but not if Trouba is #1RD and Nurse is their #1LD. Guess we will see.

That is the point, they absolutely will not be ready to challenge for a cup in a couple years if they don't bring in players.
