I'd love to ship Parayko to Carolina for Nikishin.

Why would you ever want to trade a cost controlled top 4 right handed dman for a lefty dman who has one season in the league and wants more money than him?

Because Parayko is in the twilight of his career, doofus...Nikishin is already better than him.

Why do posters keep putting CP in trade talks?
He has already told the Blues he would not accept any trade.
He loves it here and does not have any desire to leave.
He earned his NTC.

Ok I'll slow it down for you. Why would you trade a top 4 Right Handed Defenseman, one of the hardest and most expensive positions in the NHL to get, for a LEFT Handed Defenseman, one of the easiest positions to fill, who is wanting more money than the Right Handed defenseman you have under contract for another 4 years?

That doesn't make any sense at all.

And thankfully that's why you're not running the St Louis Blues.

You want to give up a RHD minutes eater and team leader for a LHD that the cup champions no longer want.

Wait in the truck man. Keep dreaming

Blues should check in what it would take to acquire NIkishin if he is being shopped. He clearly would be an upgrade to the D and is in the age range the Blues are trying to improve within. Of course it would depend on what the Hurricanes want back and what contract Nikishin is looking for.

He’s being shopped because he wants a raise. I’m not giving him more than what Broberg got. The dude didn’t do anything in the playoffs. So if he wants 5mil a season for 7yrs and then send lindstein and a first, I might do that. But I’m not so sure he’s better than lindstein.

How about we not be anxious to help Carolina out of their own problem and let's see what Lindstein does this year in the NHL and what Ralph, Fischer and Koromyslov do at the AHL.

Why the heck would we give up assets this minute for Nikishin.

We need a goal scoring RW way more than we need an expensive LHD

This.

And, to the point about needing to pay someone more than RT, we spent 3 years patiently stockpiling draft picks. Let's wait for one of them to set the new bar. If Dvorsky sticks at center, he'll easily command over 8M on a long term deal.

It was Nikishin first year in the NHL and he had a very good regular season. He's going to ask for more than 5 million. The kid never played close to that many games before and it was vs.the best players in the world. This could explain the postseason results. A trade probably won't happen but the Blues are smart to at least see what the Canes might be asking for.

Because he’s 8 years older and Nikishin has a higher ceiling offensively

He’s reportedly looking for 8 yrs x $8M.

After 1 season where he scored 33 pts as Carolina’s #5 d-man averaging 18 min/game in the regular season and then having his ice time cut to under 15 min/game in the playoffs, he wants a huge raise.
