Also sounds like this guy is a great locker room guy. Considering all the vets we've moved out, should help to have another leader in the room.

Army not bringing Maroon back is still a bone in my throat and they didn't replace his physicality until now. And as sdaltons mentioned, according to reports both of his former teams considered Johnston a glue guy who was great for team culture (like Maroon too).UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 20:51 pmPeople seem to forget the cup team also had Maroon. This team has been softer than Charmin Ultra for years. It's a breath of fresh air seeing Steen come in and make moves that adds size and physicality to the lineup again.
They won the cup having guys play as a team and buying into the coach's system. They also weren't trying to be something they weren't. They don't have the high end skill and speed to compete with the teams that drafted super stars. They have to approach it differently.
Not sure what there isn't to like.
This signing should elevate the chippyness of the whole team knowing they've got a sheriff backing them up. Nice add by Steen.

Not just Maroon, but Thorburn too. He was a great asset to have just in case.

This is the part that got me. I really like Army, but never could figure out why we could not add a deterrent to the team until now. Long time in-between Maroon and now. Schenner was game, but Schenner isn't what I would call any kind of deterrent. Good teams have at least one of these guys. Love the add. I been saying that for a long time also. These are a bunch of beta bishs that need an alpha dog. Hopefully they all play a lil bit bigger knowing someone else is there to take the heat.TBone wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 21:31 pmArmy not bringing Maroon back is still a bone in my throat and they didn't replace his physicality until now. Plus, when Schenn is out there fighting for someone, you’re losing a Top 6 Forward for that duration and potentially risking injuryzuck698 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 21:53 pmThis is the part that got me. Whether he had aged-out of his skills or not, we were still needing/counting on it from him on those lines.

Out of his entire time here, that's the one that didn't make any sense to me. Maroon was wanting a slight raise, and he deserved one, we had the space, so it made no sense.TBone wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 21:31 pmArmy not bringing Maroon back is still a bone in my throat and they didn't replace his physicality until now. Op doesn't like the moves made so far. And the taco talkers, lose it.
Because two guys who can't play hockey very good. One guy who fights and another who makes bad choices are Heros to some of the not very smart posters, who bully , call names and spent a life taking their ball and going home while crying to mommy about their victimhood.
AnyWho. SO FAR. I'm not impressed either. However I understand Steen is just Army's puppet. Since army can no longer sell his hitch hockey to those who don't repeat what the guy on the podcast said
