The Sharks still have a boatload of cap space. They have $14M plus Logan Couture's $8M available due to long-term injury. Next year, they have $60M in cap space. Eventually, they will need it to pay Celebrini, Smith, Misa, Stenberg and all the other youngsters, but that will be a while.

The Mack Attack is RFA next offseason, as is Smith, with Misa the year after.

Celebrini's contract is going to be something.

What the heck are the kings doing.

Corey Perry. Mats Zuccarello. Going to be a seniors team in LA.

I get Mats had some points the last couple years but these guys are aging out I would think

ShakeyWalton wrote: 01 Jul 2026 18:35 pm Regarding Vegas as to not further clutter up the quoting, I don't think they will get much for Hertl, but Barby is a great value for 2 more seasons at $5M. That'll net a return.
The reason sometimes they don't get much is because they are trading the least valuable assets they can that come with the biggest cap hits.
It's also because theyre a over the cap and have a hard deadline to achieve compliance, and other teams know this. Since you insist on framing this in basic macroeconomics terms, you should read up on dynamic pricing, motivated sellers, and perfect information. 31 teams all know Vegas has to dump 5M before the season starts.

They will only get as much value back as another GM thinks is necessary to outbid 31 other teams. Nobody will give full value.

What Patches did after the trade is irrelevant to the fact he was a productive scorer when Vegas jettisoned him. Nobody knew his production would crater at the time. Nobody bid on him precisely because most teams didn't want to help Vegas.

Weird, someone suggested earlier that "if they move a good player, they'll get a good return."

Glad we both agree that's a silly take.

Sorry. But almost 18 mil on trouba and nurse for the next 4 years is just stupid. Both were outmatched badly thisvplayoff year. Verbeek moved on for a reason. That Grier bailed out stan and the oilers is nauseating.

Color me overall unimpressed by the Sharks signing Trouba and absorbing full value on Nurse.

I guess they had to sign somebody to play defense.

Trouba is just about washed and Nurse is a middle pair guy making way too much money. Four years of both now on the books.

Sure they had the cap and the cap is going up. Doesn't make these good signings.

They had a strong draft but there are potential issues there too. Lin is boom or bust. There are questions about Verhoeffs mobility.

People acting like every move the Sharks are making will automatically turn to gold are getting a little overboard with it. They have a lot of nice pieces. They haven't won [shirt] yet.

I seriously don't even know what you are talking about anymore. Do you think Gm's normally pay more than they think is necessary?

Oilers sign freddie and trade for Levi. Levi I am pretty sure has to pass tbrough waivers ( ala colton ellis). Seems like Jarry is heading ro the minors unless someone bails out Stan. Between campbell and jarry they have over 8 million in dead salary eating up the cap. And Stan can't blame holland for that idiotic jarry trade.
