He's played 20 - 22 mins a game for the last 4 years. How much more a game does he have to play to reach this 'career high'? What's that even mean lol, I guess if he hits 43 pts he put up a CAREER HIGH

Byram had the 8th most Powerplay Assists and 11th Highest Goals For Buffalo, when he was on the Ice during the Powerplay. He may have been playing 2nd fiddle to Dahlin, but the production was less than both Fowler & Faulk.

Buffalo had the 20th Best Powerplay. I wonder how much more he improved the 29th ranked PP if he was arguably worse than Fowler & Faulk on the 26th ranked PP?

You’re so right. The Blackhawks wouldn’t have benefitted at all by selecting the best Defensive Prospect in the draft. In fact, trading that opportunity to burn $75M on a 2nd Line LHD on his 3rd team is totally worth that!

They just might finish 7th… in the division… if the Jets trade Hellebuyck!

People are way misreading the climate, this deal starts is 27/28 when the cap is taking another huge jump to 113 million and the player is pretty rare in that he is 25,willing to sign long term with a losing team, and available.

Pretty rare combination.

They really triggered a major market correction when the announced the cap number for the next several years.

I didn’t like the move originally but I’m warming up - every team had a different opinion of who was the best defenseman in the draft and there’s a solid chance that whoever they picked would not be better than Byram in his prime. They traded a fourth overall for a developed third overall. The price is sky high but you have to do something to lure players away from the Floridas, Vegas, Dallas etc.

My crystal ball is foggy so it looks like we might have to wait a year or two for an answer on how it worked out.

Never said he wouldn't make them better, but giving up a 4th plus assets AND give 12.5 for a guy that was 3rd best on his team? You're betting heavy on potential. Wonder what Bedard's next contract is going to look like with that pay structure on the team.

If he doesn't become top 5 in the league at minimum, it's a miss and a potential GM killer.
