I'm not sure Stenberg or Berggren are locks to make the team. I think they are batting for spots. I see Suter as a lock over them two. Good PK guy, can play anywhere in your top 12 and can close out close games.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:47 pmUnless traded, I think Suter should be added to your "locks". These guys are locks for spots:
Holloway Thomas Snugg
Neighbours McT Buch
McMichael Dvorsky Stenberg/Berggren
Ross
Three of these guys will make it:
Suter
Walker
Finley
Dube
Torop
plus who knows who might really impress in camp? Kaskimaki, Dean, Peterson long shots for sure now but who knows
Dube signs one year contract…

Dube played as Thunderbirds top center last season and through the playoffs.UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:55 pm Dube can't play center.
Walker has a near 0% chance to make the team.

No he didn't. He played left wing.dp88 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 15:28 pmDube played as Thunderbirds top center last season and through the playoffs.UMR-alum-05 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:55 pm Dube can't play center.

They for some reason listed him there. He didn't play there.

Agreed. Suter is the current swiss army knife. Berggren is a smaller one and Stenberg hopefully a better one (in time).dp88 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 15:26 pmI'm not sure Stenberg or Berggren are locks to make the team. Suter I’m good with, but keep the kid (Stenberg) and let him get some experience up here. Rather him than some middle of the road vet.dp88 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 15:26 pmI'm not sure Stenberg or Berggren are locks to make the team. I think they are batting for spots. Dube looked like the clear best player for the Thunderbirds while Stenberg and Carbs were almost invisible

He can make a nice living mentoring kids in Springfield and maybe get a callup now and then.

Re: Dube signs one year contract…
Guys. Dube is NOT a center. He's a left wing.
Here's what the Blues have going on at this moment. In order of contract AAV. Shooting hand in ().
LW: Holloway (L}, Suter (L), Neighbours (L), Torpchenko (L), Johnston (L), Walker (L), Stenberg (L), Dube (L)....McMichael (L, RFA, unsigned)
C: Thomas (R), McTavish (L), Dvorsky (L), Finley (R)
RW: Buch (L), Snuggerud (R), Berggren (L)
That's the current situation at forward. Three players with left hand shots will have to play three of the four right wings.
Dvorsky and Stenberg could go down without clearing waivers. Everyone else would have to clear. Dvorsky ain't going down anyway so that's a moot point about him. Stenberg could go down.
Torp makes like 2.75MM and just signed that extension last year. Johnston just signed today for 2MM. Berggren just signed yesterday for 2MM. Finley is your second best face off man. Failing a trade these guys are on the roster.
They could put Walker on waivers and likely retain him and send him down. Doubtful he has a huge market. Dube could get put on waivers but I bet he would be claimed potentially.
What does Suter give you that Dube doesn't? Neither is strong at center. Doesn't seem to me you need both on the roster.
It's not 16 signed players and done as one poster said. McMichael isn't signed for starters so that's only 15. And I can't see Walker making the team. And I can't see them needing Suter and Dube.
There will be more movement.

Let's get real. Dube isn't going to make the team unless he comes to camp and plays like Holloway, which isn't going to happen. Even if he did he might get traded.

Come hell or high water my money says Walker is on opening night roster.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:39 pmYeah, other than the actual $$$, I see this as the same as Walker. Create competition in camp and if Walker and Dube are waived with the intent to send them to Springfield, there is no actual cap hit at the NHL level, since the first $1.1m or so doesn't count. Low risk move, except having to pay Dube the full amount.Old_Goat wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:35 pmThey can waive him and other teams will have certainty in his cost if they want to claim him. I don't see where he fits on the Blues now.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:26 pm Its a one way deal which is interesting to me, tons of forwards in camp

It's curious McMichael isn't signed yet but we are signing other players. Don't think Dube has anything to do with that.
If I pretend McMichael signs....
Holloway Thomas Snuggerud
McMichael McTavish Buch
Neighbors Dvorsky Berggren
Johnston Finley Torpchenko
Suter, Walker/Dube
Looks to me like Suter is a potential odd man out and Dube could possibly make the team over Walker.
