Its a one way deal which is interesting to me, tons of forwards in camp

Much better investment than the Johnston fiasco.

I expect him to get a real chance to make this roster. With Sunny gone, Walker potentially replaced by Johnston, and Torp with two straight underperforming seasons, the door is open for someone ready to walk in and take it.

They can waive him and other teams will have certainty in his cost if they want to claim him. I don't see where he fits on the Blues now.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:26 pm Its a one way deal which is interesting to me, tons of forwards in camp

Yeah, other than the actual $$$, I see this as the same as Walker. Create competition in camp and if Walker and Dube are waived with the intent to send them to Springfield, there is no actual cap hit at the NHL level, since the first $1.1m or so doesn't count. Low risk move, except having to pay Dube the full amount.Old_Goat wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:35 pmThey can waive him and other teams will have certainty in his cost if they want to claim him. Dube and Johnston in feels like Torp and Walker out.

Yes, and that pay may be what Ott has requested so that he can have an experienced prior NHL guy to round out his team with better chances to experience winning, as he is trying to fulfill his development responsibilities/goals for the Blues' prospects.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:39 pmYeah, other than the actual $$$, I see this as the same as Walker. Re: Dube signs one year contract…
Dube will be in camp and he can play center, they know him now from Springfield you cant write him off yet.
These guys are locks for spots:
Holloway Thomas Snugg
Neighbours McT Buch
McMichael Dvorsky Stenberg/Berggren
Ross
Three of these guys will make it:
Suter
Walker
Finley
Dube
Torop
plus who knows who might really impress in camp? Kaskimaki, Dean, Peterson long shots for sure now but who knows

Unless traded, I think Suter should be added to your "locks". He's a good bottom 6 player.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:45 pmDube will be in camp and he can play center, they know him now from Springfield you cant write him off yet.

Gets to fight for a spot on the 4th line or as a spare forward. Signed to league minimum so can be easily be buried in the minors with no cap impact if needed. Provides depth. Whatever.

Just a gut feeling i am not sure Suter is a lock, he can be traded, if they like Finley or perhaps Dube, Suter could be gone. I think Suter is a way better NHLer but i wouldnt be surprised if hes tradedTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2026 14:47 pmUnless traded, I think Suter should be added to your "locks". Dube can't play center.
Walker has a near 0% chance to make the team.
