If this was 1986 you’d have a point, but it’s not.
A guy that is not afraid to stand up for his teammates on the 4th line. Not sure what’s not to like.
It's a move the Blues made. For some, that's all it takes.
Yep. Some just can’t help but bi**h
This^ Some of these people would complain about saliva on a BJ.
It’s gross. Move was made to appease the fanbase toughness, sandpaper all that (bleep). He can’t actually play and to sign to a 3 yr deal? Just awful

You dont know too much, huh.
If you're arguing that Johnston has equal offensive ability as Drouin, then I'd venture to to say it is you who doesn't know much. Drouin was a 3rd overall pick. Cherry picking stats doesn't help your cause... Johnston has all of 14 goals over 10 years in the league.
Druoin is a nobody, literally a fringe NHLer bust. Steen couldnt wait to dump that salary, 7 years in Druoins career he failed to score more than 7 NHL goals, only twice has he scored more than 18 goals in a year.
Yes, given this comparison Ross Johnston will affect an NHL game for STL more than Druoin, 3 hits per NHL game from Johnston, plus the handful of goals Johnston will score is more than the Blues would have got from Druoin. So yes.

$6 mil for Johnston is an absurdity....it's the kind of mistake even Army wouldn't make. In this case it seems he's out to lunch.

To make matters worse we're now paying Drouin over $1 mil to play elsewhere. Might as well have kept him on the team.

Johnston was on a better team overall last year than the Blues but in 62 NHL games he had a 48.1 Corsi which i gotta say is not that bad. Its better than...Sunggy, DD, Finley, Faulk, Schenn, Druoin, CP, Otto, etc. Not really an end all be all stat but he can certainly play hockey. Hes a 4th line intimidator, hes like Walker but actually intimidating.

Well except as i mentioned Druoin literally does NOTHING. Nothing at all, Kyrou was an uninterested floater, Druoin takes this to another level because he doesnt even score. So why would the Blues keep him? They had to take Druoin back in a trade to get a first rounder, this salary was always going to be dumped. They tried to find ANY team that would take him for something at all. Apparently not.
Fact is the Blues have been too easy to play against, not enough physicality by a mile. No thump on the back end, sure Walker and Torop will throw some checks. Its a bargain basement signing for intimidation, nothing more. $2 million per is chump change, the new base salary

Torp and Walker are on notice.
Well although I appreciate both of their attitudes, I hope that we would keep Walker rather than Toropchenko if one has to go. I feel that he is more versatile in his ability in the lineup. Although Toropchenko's reach is impactful during the PK.

When your tough guy is 5’9” and sub 200lbs from Australia…..
And I love Walker and the energy he brings!

I’m definitely more excited for the season to start. Great signing!

And to clarify HighStick, I absolutely also agree with your statement about needing more toughness and an aggressive heavyweight...I don't want you to think I was pinging on your post.

No one will keep tabs on how many games Johnston costs us by taking stupid penalties.

Ross Johnston can play hockey he isnt Reed Low or Tony Twist Cronin of course had him in ANA, the connection continues. Hes going to play he's likely to apart of a rotation with guys like Berggren, Stenberg based on whos going well and the match up but this is still just 7/1, gotta feeling that Steen is going to make a deal or two. Id think these guys are in jeopardy

Torop/Walker
Suter

they wont keep all three of these guys

I'd keep Toro and Suter over Walker. I like Walker and appreciate what he brings but it's just time to move in a different direction.
