Steen got us someone with size (like Torop and Finley), with some ability to score and participate in the offense (like Torop, but not like Finley), and with toughness (not like Torop and not like Finley)...so basically Steen just replaced two forwards with one. I call that GM'ing.

The Hurricanes already signed Deslauriers to an extension after the season and he is someone who plays a role like Johnston. (just for example that even the cup champs value a tougher player role)

This team badly needed a player like Johnston at this stage with all the young players.
