Is this a serious question?brianstlou2 wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 12:40 pm Is Carlo significantly better than Woll, who we could’ve signed for probably cheap. I like the move but am wondering was that a significant upgrade?
Carlo is +144 for his career

Exactly. Why did we even have (3) thirds?TheJackBurton wrote: ↑27 Jun 2026 12:46 pm I trade 2 3rd rounders for an established 29 year old RHD all day everyday.
One was for Bjugstad who was here for what 40 games or something?
Another was an added to the Schenn trade and another was an added to the Faulk trade.
So we turned those 3 assets into Carlo and Schairer to dramatically improve the organizational depth at a critical spot.

They wanted this team to be tougher to play against, I'd say they did just that.

Good trade as it shores up one area of concern. He is a strong defender that will not give any offense, but can go against all of the other teams lines if needed.

Also, I don't know if anyone looked, but there was essentially nothing on the UFA market on the RHD side.
The top 4 or 5 are going to be wildly overpaid, and the rest are either complete and utter scrubs or are basically almost done.
This was about as good a deal as you were going to get to fill that spot.

If he has a decent season and the Blue’s aren’t in the playoffs they could probably get a 1st round pick at TDL

Career +137. Never had a minus season. He'll be good on the 3rd pair. 70th percentile in shot, 53rd in skating. Should log PK minutes.

Re: Brandon Carlo for 2 Third rounders
This isn't a video game for the owners. They need to balance future performance against producing a good product now because they need attendance and viewers and the income from them. Some of you are "willing to sacrifice" the near term because you can just watch something else- owners do not have that luxury.
Cardinals slashed salaries and attendance dropped way off. Earlier this year the lesser paid young guys were performing over expectations and even then attendance is down. If they regress to what most of us expected it is going to be a tough year financially for them.

Love it if he's healthy. Another poster mentioned Carlo played for Monty in Boston. A big, responsible D who will help bring stability to a young D group.

Looking really hard here and I see nothing not to like. Could have used his type last year for some shelter. LGB

Great deal. If Jiricek is ready, we have a potential 2nd Rounder coming our way at the Deadline…
March 2, 2026: Traded by the Chicago Blackhawks to the Edmonton Oilers for 2nd round draft pick in 2028 .
