What a terrible move that was for Toronto. A first and a good young center for two 3rds

Think Colt minus the offensive rushes.

Excellent defensive D man with insane reach. Not particularly physical but never gets out-muscled. Has a bomb of a shot but injuries have taken a bit of a toll on his mobility so he struggles to get it off.

They’re not forcing themselves to rely on Kessel or Tucker that’s what

Meh..

One year left on a 4 mil. contract where he probably spent as much time on the injury list as he did playing. Doesn't hit, doesn't move so well. just big and basically gets paid.

Rather they give his minutes to those being Over seasoned in the A.

Bobby Bortz
Other than he doesn't fight.. doesn't hit much and is much better defensively.

Tbh neither do I. Its like they think they are in win now.... its a good trade... but we are not a win now team. Its odd. I guess sell tickets?

That is rock-solid on many fronts.

Just one year left on his contract. Good fill in at RD while Jiricek cooks in the AHL. Still just 29.

Had bad advanced stats last year, so no wonder Chayka wants him gone. Interesting we have now traded for two “hockey players” who don’t have great advanced stats. We are definitely still more old school in our scouting.

Jiricek isn't ready for the NHL.
Carlo is in the last year of his deal.
And if he is that will still be good to.(even better)
If AJ blows minds in camp and is an obvious roster choice then he can be the 6th 7th dman in a rotation but let him simmer and start to dominate the AHL first no rush
This.

Improving the 3rd D pair was a priority and they did that. Jiricek can now come in and develop and if he earns a call up he'll get it.

Adding another vet for 23 and 41 and also a very good thing.

this is a mystery to me. The Maple Leaves (players leaving)
needs better D, so why trade away a shut down defenseman with long reach to help your own defense (if Carlo is that good)

And there’s nothing wrong with that. We had a hole on the 3rd pair d and filled it in order to be competitive. 2 third round picks are pretty much nothing considering the probability one of them make it to the NHL. Plus we have plenty of prospects…we need more players who can play now.

Last checkmark is get a RW who has some toughness to him.

I can honestly tell who posted certain comments without even looking at the name. We could acquire McDavid for a 3rd rounder and a few of you would hate it!

Hence why gm lost his job. Laughton too was brutal trade. But i have a feeling they tried to move carlo at deadline... be interesting to see what was offered then.
